Why do you guys like (or dislike) the Legend of Zelda series so much?
I only like it moderately.

The first eight games in the series were terrific, even the worst among them blew the competition away
it turned me gay
I only moderately like or dislike it.
Ocarina > Zelda 1 > Link to the Past > Links Awakening > Minish Cap > Oracle games > Majoras Trans > Zelda 2 > Twilight Princess > Wind Waker > Skyward Sword > BOTW Didn't play the new game, BOTW was so ass I just didn't bother with the reskin
>>12463580 The only zelda games I've player to completion (and near completion) were Minish Cap and Skyward Sword. They were perfectly serviceable, not bad but didn't make me look out for more zelda titles.
Few games gave you that sense of adventure (at the time). The music was also beautiful.

Started LttP then and a few times since, always got bored mid way. Skipped the N64 ones for reasons of looking ugly and more of the same. Played Wind Waker despite being boring because the world design was cool looking until the final dungeon was a rehash of previous dungeons and dropped it out of boredom. Tried Minish Cap, it felt like sleep medicine. Got Link Between Worlds because I heard good things but also got bored out of the same sense of it seeming repetitive. I can see the appeal to some people, but I'd rather play almost anything else.

It's surprisingly rare to find games that pull it off. 90% bloat up with storyshit and the rest screw up the mechanics or lean heavily into ARPG elements (which may have merit on their own, separately).

>>12463580I love the series because I grew up with it. My dad had the original and I was likely 5 when I first played it. There were secrets and magic and this was cooler to me than Mario and felt like such a huge adventure (we had Mario, Excitebike,and donkey Kong). Then I had ALTTP for SNES, and got Link's Awakening the same Christmas I got my Game Boy.
