Eight fucking R&S games and like 2 of them were any good.
>>
>>12463590
That’s a pretty solid ratio for a licensed property.
>>
>>12463608
Considering for example there are no good Superman games except the Atari 2600 one.
>>
How do you make a R&S video game anyway? It's not a property that lends itself naturally to the format like TMNT did.

I find it weird that they put out a new GB release this late, came out at the end of '98.
>>
>>12463621
There was also a Beavis & Butt-Head game on the Game Boy in '98, well after the show had ended it's original run. Speaking of which, since MTV and Comedy Central are Viacom, can their games be discussed in this thread too?
>>
>>12463621
This had a separate GBC release but I think they had Gameboy Pockets to sell
>>
>>12463615
Damn how'd they fit a whole movie into that thing?

It's 4 megabits, pretty large for an 8-bit game. Though not like 4 megabit ROMs were breaking the bank in 1998.
>>
>>12463590
And I'm pretty sure both of them were the Sega-produced games (Stimpy's Invention and Quest For The Shaven Yak).
>>
Stimpy's Invention was pretty fun but I couldn't beat the final level as a kid because I kept running out of lives. I'm glad the Rocko game is hated online as much as I hated renting it since Rocko was my favorite show.

That cover represents my emotions in the early 2000s when i would walk into a thrift store with some cash in my pocket and a whole bunch of retro vidya sitting on a bottom shelf no one else wanted.
>>
>>12463626
My mom got me a copy of B&B she found at Ollies in the early 2000s for 10 bucks. Looking at prices now, she should have grabbed all of them.

the Gameboy Veediots was terrible, one less game world than the SNES version and 15 fps framerates
>>
>>12463696
I mean 8-bit hardware was going to be a noticeable downgrade from the SNES
>>
if you did hang the poster you didn't beat the game
>>
>>12463696
Was it a ROM space issue?
>>
>>12463741
The game was 2 megabits which for a Gameboy game was pretty big so there should be enough space. I think it was just a shitty rush job.

DKC-like platformer.

I watched a playthrough video and had no clue what you're supposed to do.

What an accurate representation of the publishers.

How come SpongeBob got the better (wouldn't say best but they're still fine) games out of the big Nick shows? I guess by the time the show came out they had a better understanding of what not to do, but the quality jump is still insane.

licensed games were being better policed by the owner of the property by the PS2 era. in the cartridge era it was usually nothing more than the studio drawing a cocktail napkin sketch of Bugs Bunny and mailing it to Japan.

why I wouldn’t fucking give to access all the old nick.com games
>>
>>12463585
Sadly the new collection doesn't have the Sega ones, and Stimpy's Invention was the best
>>
>>12463770
SpongeBob games sucked ass until Battle for Bikini Bottom came out and raised the bar.
>>
>>12464135
The PlayStation one is alright. I haven't played enough of the GBC one to have an opinion on it. Either way the best /vr/ SpongeBob game is a 6.5/10 at best. Playable and even fun, but not the first or even 10th game I'd recommend to someone.
>>
>>12463670
It's a typical adventure/puzzler solver of the type Japanese love but meh, Americans would much rather have Superman go around and beat people up.
>>
>>12463770
that game sucks ass though

>Considering for example there are no good Superman games except the Atari 2600 one.

Superman still gets shafted when it comes to licensed games, even to this day. Outside of the odd Lego DC game or his appearances as a fighter in the Injustice series. Death and Return of Superman was kind of OK for its time. I didn't hate it. It looks nice. Of course Superman 64 was a disaster. But then again, not many DC characters do get good game franchises outside of the obvious Batman. There has been many good Batman games. The Sunsoft NES game, Return of the Joker (for the NES, genesis/ MD port is trash), batman the Movie for the Genesis/ MD, batman returns for the SNES, the batman: The Animated Series (I even like the Genesis and Sega CD games), the Arkham games. batman has had a good overall run with a few bad titles like Batman Forever on the 16-bit systems. There were attempts at games for the Flash, on the NES, SMS and GBA. On the Marvel side, Spider-Man and X-Men are the two top IP's for game adaptions. Though that Punisher arcade game by Capcom is also great too.

>finally beat the tooth beaver
>level after is an extremely tightly timed escape sequence out of the mouth that I couldn't even remotely complete as a kid
Veediots probably would have been pretty good if it weren't so fucking hard.
>>
>>12464557
did you snicker a bit to learn that the first Batman vidya ever made was for the ZX Spectrum?
>>
The first Rugrats game was pretty cool. I wish they made more games that were basically just a collection of platformer levels based on episodes, instead all they made was just random party game shit.

The soundtrack is also really fucking funny, I wish it existed in higher quality.
>>
>>12463663
I played this. I remember it looking great but not much else. Wasn't it kind of similar to the Lost Vikings game?

Got this as a kid for my birthday, but I could never get far in it. Decided to play it again last year on the same SNES cart that I hadn't touched in almost 30 years. Finally beat it, feels good.

The Arcade game was all right

Someone here recommended to me these games on GBA as "like Zelda." I really liked the blind girl, so I went out and spent the $5USD for both. The games are on the easy side, but still overall enjoyable.
