Would ever buy the same game 4 times?
Most people didn't and the developers didn't intend for you to
if you didn't buy all the games you didn't beat the game
>>12464031You only need Red and Blue
esl
>>12464034This. Trading between versions was the intended mechanic.
>>12464075No. It's right, but any way your comment was off topic. There are 4 games, would you buy all of them?
Catchu 600 pokemans
>>12464075aaaayy one missing word in a post OP probably typed up in ten seconds before his boss caught him jerking off at work, literally unreadable
>>12464083>Would ever buy the same game 4 times?>Would ever buy the same game>Would ever buy>No. It's right>Would ever buy>No. It's right
Most people in the US would have bought two at most, either Red or Blue, and then Yellow. Things were different in Japan, since their Blue was an updated version closer to the initial US releases, so you probably had some who bought Red or Green, then Blue, and then Yellow. In reality, though, I would wager that most kids only got one version. I got Red and Yellow, but I was particularly obsessed with Pokémon and had parents who could afford to buy it for me (I had no interest in owning Blue, since I think a friend had it, and we wound up GameSharking our games regardless)
my parents (based) got me red, blue and yellow because they didn't know any better. bless them. You were meant to trade with your friends at school. you had those, right?
>>12464109Based, don't just roll over for their gaslighting lies
>>12464031Ideally you would have friends to trade and battle with.
>>12464204Ideally, but my neighborhood growing up seemed to not care about Pokemon at all. Nobody I knew had the games and school was usually where Game Boys got stolen or confiscated, so I left all alone.
>>12464218*was left all alone
>>12464031Nippon has the 2nd highest number of autistical kids after USA NUMBA WAN!!!!collectable colors with minion difference feeds the autist bucks economy.
>>12464150>You were meant to trade with your friends at school.multi player is normie shit. and the normie gaymers i knew were addicted to CnC Tiberium Sun , while refusing to play "kid's games" like pokermans.
Am I suffering from some sort of mandela effect? As far as I know, there was never a Green version outside of Japan but people keep acting like it was real and even had a cartridge of it.
>>12464242>it was real and even had a cartridge of it.some people sold pirated carts on esty and shit.
>>12464034op pwned
>>>/vp/
>>12464242The originals were Red and Green, then the game was polished up a little and re=released as Blue, Japanese Blue was used as the basis for Red/Blue worldwide, and then Yellow came out after the animeGreen was never released in English.
>>12464242Pokefags have ruined thousands of games over the years making "repros" of pokemon rom hacks so you probably saw something like that.
>>12464031No, but I have pirated the same game multiple times. I deeply regret playing Megaman: Battle Network 4 - Red Sun/Blue Moon multiple times, but I had nothing else available.
>>12464685>Green was never released in English. But the franchise has since pretended that it was. Any reference to Gen1 always calls the games Red and Green instead of Red and Blue.
>>12464031Blue was originally a give-a-way game, and Yellow was an anime tie-in to hold people over until Gold(the planned final game, no Silver) releases.Remember, this was when the anime was supposed to be a 1 season show to hype you for Gold. They never expected you to buy all 4. Blue wasn't even purchasable for like a year after the give-a-way.
>>12464806If you want to be technical, the English Red&Blue that we have is part of Japanese Blue and part of Japanese Red&Green.Think of them like Japanese BlueGreen and Japanese BlueRed.It's why we have glitches in our English games that didn't exist in the Japanese games.
I really wish we had Green here. I'm a little hesitant to play a romhacked green translation given the past incidents of rom hackers in the poke community.
>>12465668>given the past incidents of rom hackers in the poke community. What are you talking about?
>>12465668If you're willing to trust a complete stranger on 4chan, here's what I usehttps://mega.nz/folder/HkEhmK5Z#tm8-wgtAhp7d1xyPWuw9oQThe version of Green here is pretty much just US Blue with the old spritework and appropriate SGB data. The version of Blue here is a version of Green edited to have the various encounter and ingame trade changes that JP Blue had.
>>12465668Green is kinda pointless outside of the sprite differences. It's just the US Red./blue game with visual differences so if you've played those it's just a visual curio.Japanese Blue is what's really interesting. Some cool encounter differences and in game trades if you wanna play solo like getting Gengar, some Safari zone rarities like Tauros and Kangaskhan in game trades.
>>12466558Jynx is also obtainable in the wild in JP Blue. Leaving Mr. Mime as the only Pokemon ONLY available through ingame trade in gen 1 iirc.
