I regret slimming down my NES collection. I've found a new love for it, but now I'm torn between rebuilding and buying a flashcart
>>
just buy an everdrive or emulate, fuckin retard
>>
>>12466270
I can't emulate. Reinserting the cart 35 times to make it read is a vital part of the experience
>>
>>12466257
if you care about playing video games buy a flash cart, if you care about looking at things on your shelf that literally only you on earth will care that you have buy real games.
>>
>>12466385
>if you care about looking at things on your shelf that literally only you on earth will care that you have buy real games.
Well yeah, I own the games I do because I care about them
>>
>>12466385
Why cant i do both?

Not a waste if its something you enjoy.

>STOP ENJOYING PHYSICAL MEDIA
Im an emufag and I still think this is fucking retarded. "but its pointless" yeah so is playing videogames.
>>
>>12466282
May i reccomend a solution for your autismo? a bullet?
>>
>>12466417
>>12466401
I never said you couldnt have both, my statements dont contradict each other. If you want shit on your shelf put shit on your shelf are you not a grown ass adult you should be able to make these decisions for yourself.
>>
>>12466495
It is if you could easily enjoy it for free with emulation
>>
>>12466675
Except then i don't get to enjoy the physical attributes/hardware. It's like telling someone they wasted money on a framed picture when they could have printed out a copy and taped it to the wall.
>>
>>12466282
You mean the tape?
>>
>>12467047
No one has ever used this term to describe NES cartridges. Why do larping zoomers insist on pretending they did?
>>
>>12467150
Yes they have. There was specifically a game store that began in the nes days known as "Game Tapes Unlimited".

games on cassette tape did exist but not for NES

Though technically they did on famicom.

How many games did you own at the peak of your collection? How many do you have left now? Did you sell them for a profit?

I've also sold a few games from my collection, but mostly the ones I didn't really care about. I bought some more lately but only the ones I could find for cheap. If there's a game I want but it's too expensive to get a phisical copy, I just get a bootleg cart from china at a fraction of the cost.
I don't really care if it's not an original cart, I just want it on my shelf.

I also have emulators and a cracked snes mini with a ton of games on it. I just like to have a variety of options available.

I regret selling off entire game collections but never slimming down. Too many mediocre games sitting on a shelf do not bring joy. Keep your favorites and use a flashcart for the rest.
>>
>>12466257
OP is a faggot.
>>
>>12466257
How expensive are the games you sold now? I'd slowly rebuild if you can do that. You can still find games for cheap but it takes time and effort.

almost 40 years later and my zelda cartridge still saves
>>
>>12467150
Ask me how I know you weren't alive back then.
>>
>>12469497
I don't think people really understood lithium batteries back then, any other battery would probably be dead in months to a couple years even without being used at all.
>>
>>12469547
How do you know I wasn't alive back then?
I was born in 1989 btw
>>

Because you seem to think that "Atari tapes" and "Nintendo tapes" weren't even a thing, let alone common parlance.

>"challenges the narrative"
>gets promptly blown the fuck out
Why do all of your posts end up like this?
>>
>>12469405
only retarded boomers called them that so it was never official. you can tell thats a retarded boomer concerned about how long the expensive "tape" his turdlennial is begging him for will last.
he heard a rumor about them only lasting 5 years at some boomer gathering no doubt.
>>
>>12470265
also you can tell the nintendo employee knew he was dealing with a retard as soon as he said tapes, and proceeded to immediately tell him its not a tape.
he also felt the need to tell the tapetard not to step on them, he should have told him not to eat the tapes while he was at it.
>>
And here comes the angry samefagging. Another narrative successfully challenged, amirite?

they are still around and are the ones that bring me out vhs when I ask if they have any games

Nah, this doesn't happen.
>>

who are you? why are you telling me things that regularly happen to me don't?
or are you just a dipshit retard who likes to prattle on about things you don't know about?
Theres enough faggots like you around so stop it.
>>
>>12467150
Gaming used to be extremely anti-normie. Our boomer parents didn’t really understand what a cartridge was so they used the language that they already knew to describe them, aka a tape as in a vhs tape. Gaming was seen as the ultimate loser hobby, and you’d often hear the same boomers talking about tapes also saying that playing videogames will rot your brains.
>>
He bought
Also got Rad Racer 1 and 2
>>
>>12471878
>why are you telling me things that regularly happen to me don't?
Because they didn't.
>>
>>12467309
Only if the user made them. There were never any games commercially released on tape for Famicom.
>>
>>12471914
>Gaming was seen as the ultimate loser hobby
Yes and no. I refuse to further elaborate.
>>
>>12471914
My parents are baby boomers and they just called them "games." They of course never said "cartridge" or "game pak," but never in my life have I ever heard anyone of any age use the word "tape" to describe a game.
>>
>>12471914
>Gaming used to be extremely anti-normie
Speaking from my experience as a 90s kid only for adults was gaming seen as odd. I totally expected that i would grow out of liking video games when I became a teenager. Also I did experience the everything is a "Nintendo" phenomenon from older people whether it be a Sega or Sony console.
>>
>>12466385
this. buy a flashcard and put the money into the stocket market, buy an etf or whatever. this hobby is all about the games anyway and not about rotting electronics and plastic on your shelve.
>>
>>12471914

Neither did we. We called them games or tapes.
>but never in my life have I ever heard anyone of any age use the word "tape" to describe a game.
This isn't surprising, as you're not Gen X.
>>
>>12473082
>this hobby is all about the games
It's about all aspects around the game too. Thats like saying a car guy should only care about driving and none of the other surrounding interesting elements.
>>
>>12472274
Hudson released 3 compilations of games on cassete that worked with Family Basic.
>>
>>12475123
Flash cart owners modded their Skyline GTR for 1000hp and race it on the track every other weekend. Physical game collectors bought the $10,000 carbon fiber cupholder option on their overpriced Porche 911 with 80 miles and have never driven it.

You're thinking collectards
