I hate labbing in training modeI hate watching my replaysI hate copying high level players strategiesbut I wanna get good
join me in playing best of best
>>12468551>but I wanna get goodIt appears you do not, as you hate several things that are the keys to getting good.
>not a fan of sf3>it's the only game with lenient enough input execution for you to do 360 and dp moves
>>12471658Do you have parkinsons or something???
>>12468551Then you don't want to get good, you want to be good without doing the getting part. That said>I hate copying high level players strategiesIsn't required at all, unless you mean the good strategies that good players use. You don't have to learn every safe jump and option select to get good, and its better to learn how to use those types of things natively instead of through copying others. If you're not willing to put in the work to learn and practice though, you don't really deserve to be good in the first place.
>>12468551You're never gonna git gud if you don't try. You can either try again until it clicks or you can cut your losses and find a new game.
>>12471997don't pretend like the 360 in super turbo isn't hard as balls to do consistently. going from that to third strike is like having a weight taken of your nuts.
>>12468551I only use it to play beat em ups with Peruvians because I suck at fighting games kek
>>12472072With each new game the inputs become more lenient. You could even say that the newer games have too lenient of inputs and the older games have inputs that are less easy to abuse.
3rd Strike enjoyer here. You can lab while fighting weaker opponents usually, instead of focusing on winning the set focus on testing whatever it is you wanna test or practice.I almost never watch my own replays unless something crazy and weird happens.Sometimes I watch high ranks on fightcade who use Ryu or Q, just to see their style and strats. I compare it to looking over shoulders at arcades. Getting good is a vanishing goal, you'll feel good until a high rank A or S tier mops the floor with you and makes you feel like you didn't learn anything despite having 1000 hours playtime.
>>12472072A 720 without jumping is hard.Doing a 270 degree input to get a SPD is easy.
>>12468551Anyone wanna play Metal Slug with me? The first one because there was a thread about it here recently about how many quarters you would need or something. Or a shmup. I like shmups too.
>>12468551I've tried all of that, but nothing changes.Last time I got easily tilted by another shitter, so I don't think I'll play these games anymore.>just play for funI do, but my competitive instinct is a bitch.
>>12472221Competitive spirit pushes you to compete, and try again.Ego-seeking-validation, pushes you to quit and cope when defeated. Very different things.
>>12472229That's one way to see it. But is it worth it?I've already "quit" multiple times, so it's not like I dropping any game after a single loss.If I had someone to play with in the same room, I wouldn't be here spreading such negativity. I think I understand what some people mean when they call fighting games a "dead" genre, it's because the social aspect has changed.
>>12472279From my experience the games I quit multiple times are often the most rewarding to get good at, despite (or because of) the frustration they cause.
>>12468551>"watching my replays"why would you do that in the first place. you should be able to tell what you fuck up on the fly. missed that antiair? missed a whiff punish? dropped the bnb? rewatching your own replays is a waste of time. >I hate copying high level players strategieswhat does that even mean? you cant straight up copy strategies because you are usually in a moment to moment combat situation. the only thing you can copy are oki set ups. the rest is intuition and straight up reflexes/muscle memory.>I hate labbing in training modethat one is overblown imho. you are better off playing against weaker players and use them to practice specific things. like use a training session against an opponent who loves to jump to practice certain antiairs from certain angles or use it for whiff punish training against people who love to mash sweep. there are so many ways to improve your game without having to lab against dummies.
>>12472148thirdstrike was the sweat spot, inputs that were fairly forgiving in terms of just making one come out in practice mode but still baseline difficult to do in the middle of combos and the short reaction time of an anti air in a match.
>>12473092>why would you do that in the first place. you should be able to tell what you fuck up on the fly. missed that antiair? missed a whiff punish? dropped the bnb? rewatching your own replays is a waste of time.not when you're starting out, a lot of new players have blind spots, they do things that get punished without realizing it, they repeat patterns. I mean if you don't have 500+ hours in the game already you'll probably benefit from watching your replays and then compare to good players, etc>you cant straight up copy strategies because you are usually in a moment to moment combat situationcertain setups work on some characters and not others, depending on hitboxes. Also some characters are susceptible to some pokes while others are not, different punish windows, it's something players will learn subconsciously but being aware of these differences helps a lot and they can be learned as strategies. You're not copying a route or anything, but learn certain patterns, weaknesses and setups etc
>>12468551>I hate labbing in training modeyou will stop hating labbing when you either get curious about finding out new knowledge for yourself, or when you want to actually become consistent at a technique or combo>I hate watching my replaysthen you're watching too much of them instead of taking out key moments that you do not understand super well then recreating them to learn about them>I hate copying high level players strategiesthen don't - try to actually understand the situations, mechanics, and decisions of a game for yourself, and build up your own strategies. but that would require doing the above or at least thinking about the game in a more systematic way and breaking it down so that you know its nuts and bolts, and know how to apply those nuts and bolts to real match-practical situations>but I wanna get goodreal question, do you actually wanna get good, or do you just like the idea of getting good?the sooner you're honest with yourself, the better. if you just like the idea of getting good, but you don't actually want to get good, then just admit that to yourself and stop putting retarded expectations on yourself that you will never fulfill. put your effort into other parts of life that you actually want to get good atbut if you do actually want to get good then you will have to get more curious about the game you want to be better at and you will have to get more of a desire to get skills deep into your bones
>>12472072>don't pretend like the 360 in super turbo isn't hard as balls to do consistentlyPretty much all motions like that are a pain in the ass with the shitty Super Nintendo Dpad
>>12472017>>12472205>>12473092>>12474404I really appreciate your responses. I'm going to get good.
