Which of the Cotton games are worth grabbing on Steam?
>>
>>12471184
All of them.

No joke! Well most of then anyway.
Reboot is ace, amd Rock n Roll (or Fantasy) is a goat. Though you can ignore the spinoffs in my opinion. I'd love to recommend Cotton 2 but the emulator they use for the port simply sucks so you are better off using mednafen because they game is pretty neat.

Wasn't there some recent remaster that sucked?
>>

That might be Rainbow or Panorama, the rail shooters, but I'm not familiar with them. Reboot, High Tension (which is only on console in Japan right now) and Rock n Roll are all great.

There's like 5 Cotton games on Steam and most of them have bad reviews
>>
No retro console game is "worth grabbing on Steam"

the shmup general hasn't reached bump limit yet.

There is no shmup general, wdym

Panorama is good, Rainbow sucks.
I can confirm Fantastic Night Dreams, 100%, Panorama and Fantasy are worth getting.
>>
>>12471308
Cave games beg to differ
>>
>>12471184
Play the Turbografx CD version of Fantastic Night Dreams. The arranged ost is godly.
Avoid the shitty laggy port of Cotton 2 and emulate the Saturn version
>>
>>12471184
None
Play the original arcade version in FBNeo or on the PSX, or on PC Engine for a good soundtrack
Play Cotton 100% on PSX or SNES
Play Cotton 2 and Boomerang on Saturn in Mednafen
Attempt to play Panorama Cotton
>>
All the Cotton games are pretty bad honestly, there are so much better shmups out there.

Since it's a Cotton thread, I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of the March 2000(?) cellphone version of the original game. If you don't know what I'm talking about, there's two known versions:
>original arcade version
>X68K, which is barley a port since it revamps a shit ton of the original assets and levels
There was actually a third version which revamps the stages and bosses even further, but I have never seen anybody talk about it outside of an archived webpage and a British guy on YouTube who uploaded a little footage of it. The screenshot I posted is from the archived website, I need to find it again. It depicts the second stage boss after defeat. Here's some gameplay: https://youtu.be/60qr3XpABNg?si=B4JhdwLvGiLOn77x&t=417

Sure there is. Sometimes official re-releases are more convenient or offer new features.

What about 2 and Boomerang (steam versions)

I heard the Saturn Tribute ones has input delay. I am still waiting for it from Strictly Limited, probably because it is bundled with something still not done yet. For the most part the games are all fun. I think one of the new ones is made by the same team that did the Trouble Witches games.

Steam reviews have no value.
