It's a real shame that this game kinda gave up at the Versailles level. Everything up until that was top notch, but then you get to lazy corridors with random enemies scattered around, like the one with knights and the chandeliers that goes on forever or the one with the robots, that feel like cobbled together in a few minutes. The final level is even worse outside of the bosses, with the shitty optical effects and upside down gimmicks. Wouldn't surpise me if the devs had unreasonable deadlines and couldn't finish the game like they wanted.
>>12471864Still the best Classicvania tho
game is too purple for me, like the worst of worst of the Genesis and its bad color. night and day compared to something like Sonic
>>12471864France is the shittiest stage
>>12471864
does everyone agree that italy is the coolest stage
>>12471864That one was weaker But i didn't feel that way, the final stage was great, I loved the game.I also hate the original NES Castlevania, haven't played II and III was just ...OK, aside from having great graphics and cool stages whatever. Bloodlines in the only other CV I have played and I think this one really perfected the gameplay.
>>12472429I actually like Greece by far. The final boss in Italy was annoying but I played for a net no lives lost until the final level so I had the original number of lives and continues.
>>12471864What the fuck are you guys talking about, the game literally peaks at Versailles. If game sets out to be a gimmickfest that swaps out set pieces every 10 seconds then wouldn't you want the purest expression of that?Besides, the worst level is the Germany one and it's not even close.
>>12472713Damn this is so fun. Literally an empty corridor where you have to stop every five step to let the chandeliers fall down and 10 armors knights just standing there at regular intervals. Peak level design.
I liked everything except the part in the final stage where the screen is cut into three, that was just dumb
>>12471864>shitty optical effects Call me crazy but I like it. Especially on the first play thru when the screen shifted it really impressed me at the time.
>>12472713Iron Blue Intention is an awesome track, though. I do think Germany is a bit of a disappointment given the potential it had. I would have liked to see another Castlevania try the European grand tour concept again.
>>12472820Not retro but I was always disappointed that Portrait of Ruin really didn't make use of its WW2 setting.
>>12472403Funkos are the most soulless piece of merchandise ever created
>>124718681. CV32. Dracula X3. Rondo4. Bloodlines5. CV16. SCV47. BR8. Legends9. Adventure I still haven't played x68000
>>12472730Nah that part was amazing because you can use the chandeliers to kill the armors. Feels great to pull off. Also, SCIV has a section that is nearly identical to this except the chandeliers only hurt you. But I bet you never complained about that, fagboy.
>>12473156That's a mild novelty at best that doesn't make up for how halfassed the level is. And that part in SCIV (despite SCIV being a worse game than Bloodlines overall) is significantly more interesting: shorter, more enemy variety with different patterns (dancers, floating balls of energy and bats on top of the armors) and some resemblance of level design instead of just a flat corridor.
