Now that the era of mini emulation consoles is mostly over, I think it's fair to say that the Egret II Mini turned out to be the best one. It had an awesome game library to start with and they kept releasing expansions for it and that was awesome. The rotating screen was awesome, and the multi-gate stick turned out to be exactly what I needed for playing arcade games on my PC.
Being the best mini console is like being the tallest midget. The vast majority of people buying these were doing so just for the visual appeal. The controls on the mini cabinets aren't particularly great, nor is the screen. I didn't handle an Egret II specifically, but I wasn't inpresses with the SNK and Sega-branded units I tried. The NES/SNES/PS1 minis were hackable, at least, and if you got your hands on one of the PS1 Classics as they were being blown out across the US for $20, you got a Pi alternative with a decent pair of controllers.
>>12472401The screen and controls are good, and even if they weren't you could hook up to a monitor and use the usb stick.>hackableSomeone ported batocera to it>SNKI haven't used it but I heard that one was bad
>be 45 year old weeb balding millennial>have nostalgia for the good ol days of 1993 because you never grew up >spend $200 + $300 on shipping for a super hardcore japanese arcade experience you didn't grow up with, but at home!>take a picture of the consoomslop with the wrong orientation and post it on twitter and facebook>play on it anywhere from 0 to 30 minutes>"actually this isn't all that fun">leave it on your bookshelf for 5 years, gathering and spreading dust>"honestly it always looked fucking ugly, i regret buying this at all">sell it on ebay for $40
>>12472387>now that ive picked up some piece of garbage
>>12472480That's a ton of cope>>12472484Samefag, and I've had this thing for like 5 years already. Since launch, however long ago that was now.
I want to get the sega astro city mini v because it has batrider on it
>>12472480I wish they were 40 dollars people on ebay are insane
>>12472480Kek it's more like>be Japanese scalper>gaming company releases thing>oh sweet the stupid white manchildren will be all over this!>buy the whole stock>resell it for 5x the price overseas>???>profit!!!
>>12472514Things that never happened
>>12472514In my experience, Japs don't really scalp in the sense that they buy a bunch of product with the intent to resell. It's just that the JDM has tons of exclusive shit you can't get anywhere else, so you're often paying gaijin tax on top of whatever the perceived rarity of the item in question. They fucking love limited runs and variants. It's like a fetish for them.
I had a very nice time with my hacked SNES Mini and found it far more enjoyable and less autistic than my Pi setup at the time, even despite the power difference. No reason to bother with one now in an age of cheap Misters but it was a great little device at the time. It made so many dorks mad.
>>12472387Between 5-10 frames of input lag depending on the game, it's absolute garbage
>>12472497>this is a ton of cope
>>12472427>I haven't used it but I heard that one was badOh lordly it's bad, even the Neo-Geo CD repo gamepads they made for it are bad.
>>12472480What's with the butthurt?
>>12473638I'm convinced that the majority of /vr/ has the 1st grade mentality of "I don't have it so it actually sucks". This is why you see so many people say "Just emulate" when someone posts a picture of their physical games. They simply don't like that you have something they don't. My advice is to simply ignore them.>>12472387They look cool but unfortunately I have no use for them. I enjoyed the Mario Game & Watch one but it was built like shit and the metallic plating peeled off.
>>12473638>What's with the butthurt? You're butthurt because you're such an underage poorfag loser that you wish that was your future.
>>12473230Why do you lie?
>>12473715>the metallic plating peeled offHow the hell does that even happen? My Mario and Zelda G&W's are fine.
>>12473882Dunno how they fucked it up, but it's just a metal veneer plate adhered on. Probably just some (bad) luck of the QC draw.
>>12472653If you go on Mercari, Amazon JP, Yahoo or whatever they basically resell all merch at egregious prices. Shitty gachapon keychains and cheap shit go for like 4-5x the price, not including shipping. You could try a seemingly legit distributor like Meccha, but they match the scalper prices so it's almost like price gouging.
>>12472480The least believable part is you sold it for only $40
>>12473882No clue. I kept it in the foam thingy in a safe place when not in use. I'm sure some super glue would remedy it, but the fact it did that at all was disappointing to me.
>>12473912That's your fault for being an importfag
>>12473993Is it humid in your house? Did you leave it in a hot place?
>>12473912Oof, it's admittedly been a while since I imported shit (Covid delays, rising shipping, and tariff bullshit pretty much killed off my interest in importing), but I assumed domestic prices would still relatively reasonable. Guess I was wrong.
I remember when YouTubers were shilling this shit. This one looks ok (but gay)
>>12473880>why do i lie
