So I recently got myself an Everdrive-64 X7 and I noticed that you can install emulators onto it, with an NES emulator pre-installed.
How good is this emulator? I've tested a few games and they all seem to run alright save for Maniac Mansion, which acts like I'm holding down the A button on a turbo controller for some reason.
Additionally, how good are the various third party emulators for the N64 like the ones for SNES, Game Boy, and Game Gear?

if it uses neon64 it runs some games fine and others don't boot, I think summercart64 uses an fpga emulator.
>gb/c
the only one i got to work was the one website that converts gb roms into n64 roms, i remember it running fine but it was a hassle to convert roms (I'm stupid and i like having 1G1R sets)
>snes
sodium64 is very impressive but i can't say it is good enough for using, some games do work well like mario world but others have graphical glitches (dkc2, street fighter), slow speed or dont boot, i tried umihara kawase once and the fishing line was fucked up.
>game gear
never used it
iirc there's a speccy and a SCUMM emulator that are very good, dunno if this count but there's ports of prboom (for doom, doom 2, etc..) and wolfenstein 3D.

Whatever you're posting on is better at emulation.

Hopefully nobody will be cruel and tell you about the SummerCart, which is outright better and a third of the price.

The everdrive does that

Stupid name, great product. i have played more 64 since getting one than I ever did previously.

I bought an X5 years ago, iirc the main flaw was that you have to press the reset on the console to save. Is that chink cart an upgrade?

>NES
Everdrive FPGA emulator is fine but not all mappers are supported. Never used Neon
>SNES/Sodium
Decent for low-spec games but rough for games that require special chips or use several layers
>GB/GBC
Game Boy runs okay, games that use sprite flickering are unbearable. Game Boy Color runs super poorly. Both have rewind/save state features
>Game Gear
The Game Gear emulator is fine but the screen is really small
>SCUMM
Neat but varies on a game-by-game basis
>>12474308
If anon already owns an X7 there's no reason to upgrade to a SummerCart
>>
Why even bother emulating other consoles on n64?

Don't ask "why," ask "why not"
>>

>ask "why not"
because there are better methods to play?
It's cool as a programming experiment, but it's not practical

What layers? Background layers, or PCB layers?

never mind, I just realized you were talking about using an N64 flashcart for SNES emulation, not SNES flashcarts.
