What the HELL, Shadow?!I read that if I kept him in top slot, he wouldn't run off!! That was a LIE!!How am I supposed to beat Dadyluma now?!
Ninja was so overpowered in FFV that they made the one for FFVI a little bitch who you either can't use half the game or have no reason to use when you finally get him.
>>12474425To be fair, he DID warn you up front.
>>12474437Only the first time! I don't remember why I put up with this as a kid. I must've run from every battle. I guess he has a chance to run after every WoB battle except Phantom Train up until Leo hires him?>>12474425Anyway, thread on characters you now find infuriating/overrated, internet myths or not!
>>12474425Yeah, Shadow was kinda poorly implemented in the WoB. I get what they were going for with him, but him randomly running away was not fun and just made it so you didn't want to fight with him, when that's the whole point of getting him in your party. You definitely don't want to get him for the Zozo bit, as he leaves halfway through no matter what, and then he's totally absent all the way until Thamasa, where you have him for all of five minutes before you lose him again. This absence is actually pretty strange, too, as you can buy equipment for him in the southern continent as if you were meant to have been able to recruit him there, but it looks like that got cut sometime in development.>>12474428or have no reason to use when you finally get himThis I disagree with, though. Shadow is a good character once you are able to fully utilize him. Throw is solid damage at all points of the game, and by the time you get him for real, you should be able to stock up on strong throwable weapons such as Falchions and elemental swords, which has him rival Sabin in power. He also has some great and interesting endgame weapon setups, such as the double Assassin/Striker instant death combo or the Stunner/Dragoon setup to Stop enemies. His only real issue is the Evade bug in the original SNES version makes it so he can't take advantage of his high Evade stat, which he could've otherwise been able to potentially max to make him invulnerable to physical attacks, but it's not a dealbreaker.
>>12474425Use Edgar's overpowered tools and Gau's overpowered rages of course

>>12474632The Chain Saw is thankfully nearby, but what if you forgot to Lore-grind earlier?
>>12474425If you think that's bad, try and hire him when you go to Vector and take him to the Opera house.
