Which was the better N64 fighter?
In regard to depth and nuance of combat, it's probably Killer Instinct Gold.

KI Gold biggest disadvantage was that it came too early into the N64 lifespan, so memory issues and lack of knowledge of the system made for such huge limitations, but considering it's a port of a 1995 game that would lose relevancy fast, it was unavoidable.

Having owned and played pretty much all of fighters the 64 had in NA, the only ones we would come back to in my circle of friends were Mace: The Dark Age and occasionally Killer Instinct Gold. Playing Smash or wrestling games usually superceded either if you include them as fighting/combat games. I did really like Mace, though. It was like the 64's Soul Edge.
Not surprised that nobody is posting Bio Freaks.Fighting fans were not eating good on the N64. You had to really love racing games and low-framerate first person shooters. But I loved both so I love my N64
Picrel and its sequel are the only decent N64 fighting games
