Post games that were popular but are not remembered fondly.
>>12476664ironically I knew several people who owned Drancon and it was/is remembered fondly
>>12476664yes i was watching mike matei today too
What? People remember this game fondly, it's just ultra hard
>>12476671Based, remember to buy his white creamy sauce, discount code FUCKINGWHORE
Knight Lore was a beloved classic that invented a video game genre and had endless ripoffs and now people don't care about it anymore solely because it wasn't on the Nintendo.
I remember making it to some level where I had to jump on clouds and some enemies kept jumping out of the water.
When was the last time you saw somebody say Primal Rage is their favorite fighting game?
>>12476695>people don't care about it anymore solely because it wasn't on the Nintendo. It was though, in Japan.
>>12476709>Save $4.00 at Six Flags®Holy SOUL. Thirdies will never understand.
>>12476754>>12476767>Launch Titles that were advertised alongside the system, but then forgotten about as better games came outI'm sensing a pattern.
>>12476664>I got mad at this game when I was a kid so in my mind everybody hates it???
>>12476709To be fair, I don't think Primal Rage was ever really celebrated for being a groundbreaking fighting game. As somebody who enjoyed it as a kid, I liked the theme, graphics, characters, setting, story (or whatever tidbits I managed to glean from a friend who had it on PC), and secrets. The actual fighting was quite honestly secondary. That's not to say I didn't enjoy playing it, but my affinity for the game was absolutely bolstered by those other elements.>oh wow look at that ruined city background, that's so cool>damn Diablo looks badass!>Chaos used to be a human... that's cool>wait, and Chaos can PISS on the enemy?? Holy shit!>you can EAT the followers?? Awesome!>and there's a secret volleyball minigame?
>>12476664chat is this true?
>>12476892Meh, it's true that people talk much less about adventure island than 15 years ago, but I think that's more about gen X becoming too old to waste time on internet.
chat did people talk about adventure island more in 2011?
>>12476664>Post games that were popular but are not remembered fondly.aka just a hudson soft thread
>>12476664For a good while (almost a decade) it outsold doom but I haven't heard anyone talk about it in years.
>>12476904That's legitimately a bad game though.
>>12476905This was the first thing I thought of.
>>12476905>>12476979not talked about != not being remembered fondly. adventure games were just really dated and reflected what the tech was capable of at the time. once it reached a certain point audiences wanted more exciting things.
>>12476982Myst is not an adventure game
>>12476851It must have been pretty damn popular to be ported to literally everything possible.
>>12476987literally everyone disagrees with you
C&C. At the time it was the must have PC game. Nowadays you only hear how bad it was.
The bad takes in this thread are truly shameful
>>12477008It was popular, I just don't know if it were particularly revered for its gameplay like SFII was (and is). Not saying it's bad, just not the most memorable thing about it.
>>12476904
>>12476664At least in Japan
>>12477047Ironically they're now remembered as a shovelware mod for sims 1Remastered edition made a brilliant choice of adding nitty-gritty sci-fi shit into a dollhouse f*moid simulator.Totally fits in-game themes. Best pack north korea
>>12476767I still play it sometimes because it's a very nostalgic title for me but I concede it's very dated. You had to be there at the time to really appreciate it for what it wasAny anons got the cartoon of the guy "powering up" in the gym?
>>12477451Historically important but made obsolete by every game it influenced
>>12477541yea
>>12477690Thanks anon. This one always cracks me up for some reason
