It has so much soul, how did they manage to make a sequel on such little time that can almost rival its predecesor?
>>
>>12477281

what do you mean "almost rival", OP? it's not my much, but MM is the better game overall.
>>
I got both on their release dates.
MM has better slice of life shit and a "dark" tone but OOT is a far better game. The dungeons in MM sucked, a lot of the locations sucked, it just wasn't as good.
>>
>>12477281
maybe it was time constraint and pressure, plus reusing existing content
>>
>>12477283
I feel like it falls short of a few things but if you consider it better then I won't say otherwise.
>>12477301
>>12477305
I heard the reason the game has such a dark tone is a projection of how the developers felt working under such short time constraints, hence why it's so depressing and bleak.

>dungeons in MM sucked, a lot of the locations sucked
They're all better in MM. Everything in MM is better.
>>
MM is Nintendo's magnum opus, full stop. It is the darkest, edgiest, and most nihilistic game they have ever made, straying away from the usual kiddy vibe that nintendo is known for. MM blows OoT out of the water in almost every possible facet of creativity and storytelling.

Best song in the whole game. It feels like a nice rest point, a place to collect yourself for a short while before you go back out into Termina to save the world.

Oh may gah! The moon is gonna crash into the planet! So dark, thought-provoking, and nihilistic! Woah, so deep!

Wooooah! An old wizard guy with a cool lab being the harbinger about a celestial body colliding with the planet? Nooo waaay!

Fuck off, faggot.
>>
>>12477281
OOT is so much better its unreal. I like the edginess and dark tone of MM but the game itself does not compare.
>>
Majora is the better game

The termina field mog the Hyrule field of OOT
Clock tower mog Kakariko
The side quest are much much better in majora
The game is harder
Stone tower is the best dungeon in all Zelda
The story and characters are much better
The mask transformation add so much in terms of gameplay
>>
>>12478778
The whole game mogs the fuck out of Ocarina of Time.
OoT is basically a 3D remake of A Link to the Past.
OoT might as well be a working prototype for what Majora's Mask ended up being.

Its sad that gave it such a deep meta-narrative based off Buddhist philosophy that exactly 0.1% of players will even comprehend exists

instead its just
>LOL LE BEN DROWNED HE HE HE FUNNY FACE

Its the deepest game ever made, so deep no one even realizes it
Help me Buddha, the ignorance is too much
>>
>>12477281
this game proves that as long as you craft an interesting narrative and unique framing device while adding just enough new things to feel fresh you can and should reuse assets to reduce dev time.

>Its sad that gave it such a deep meta-narrative based off Buddhist philosophy that exactly 0.1% of players will even comprehend exists
I feel this way but for SMT Nocturne, because just focus on the superficial Revelations stuff

Back onto Zelda, I do find that interesting and would wanna hear more. Despite the traditional fantasy aesthetic and blonde elves and castles, Zelda always felt very Japanese in a way.
>>
>>12478834
I'm not sure how prevalent it was but I feel like many games back then was like that for like two games and then they went for a new engine/graphics/assets or whatever.
>>
dude ben drowned lol
>>
How was it to play this back in the year 2000? Any of you were actually hyped for "Zelda Gaiden" during 1999?
>>
>>12482802
I got it on release date. I was excited as fuck. Played the shit out of it.
I don't really like it anymore, but still enjoy the previous Zeldas. But at that time, not knowing what was going to happen, coming off the high of OOT, it was amazing.
>>
>>12482802
It was probably my most "locked-in" gaming moment of my life. Hunting down all the masks in sleepless nights, my buddy playing his own copy side by side on the couch. Coming off of OoT, I still remember how distinctly improved the MM graphics were.
>>
>>12477281
It's not better than oot, but it's damn good. All the asset recycling probably did the heavy lifting for the short dev time, but it's still impressive how much new stuff they threw in.
>>
>>12483246
It's fair to like OoT more than MM, but absolutely bizarre to me to say that OoT is the better game.
MM just does everything better. It has a more fleshed-out world, better characters, a better plotline, better dungeons (even if there's less of them). It's just the all-around best Zelda game IMO
>>
>>12483301
No, its a time based ocd quest. Oot is much more open and lets you do things on your own time. You probably count the sheets of toilet paper you wipe your poop wound with
>>
>>12482802
It was a very weird and confusing game. Making progress could be difficult at times. I really enjoyed it, even coming off OoT.
