>>12478950>>12478951I was 8 years old. My Uncle had RE, BUG!, and Panzer Dragoon. I tried RE but it was too scary so I played BUG all the time>>12478962>>12478964My Dad had a PS and he had Tomb Raider, Soviet Strike, Dark Light Conflict and Colony Wars. he also bought Croc! for me but we were obsessed with Lara Croft, we played 1-2 all the time. we didn't like 3 and the rest as much.>>12478959I got the Mega Drive when my Uncle upgraded, I had Sonic 1+2+3D (me and my sister shared 3D), Alaadin, MK, ALL the STRIKE games, me and my Dad were obsessed with those as well.I would randomly play WORMS at my youth clubs PC too.don't ever grow up. it fucking sucks. thanks for reading my blog.
>>12478950Probably raystorm. Battle garegga, salamander 2, and sengoku aces also released that year.
The top 5 games from 1996 were>Heroes of Might and Magic II>Kirby's Fun Pak>Super Mario 64>Kono Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shoujo YU-NO>Quake
>>12478981Sorry but not, between DOS, win95, Windows 16 bit, pc-fx, I don't get it, also my jdownloader2 is really bad at getting these images some I had to get it manually. But I guess people will say: Quake, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Descent II,Duke Nukem 3D ,Civilization II, Broken Sword, star control 3, etc... Diablo is almonst 1997 But I will try to take your feedback for the future and next year.
Man, what a fantastic year for games that was. The big standouts for me were Tomb Raider and Persona, two games I still adore to this day. As well as a shit ton of MK3. I'd totally forgotten about Tail of the Sun all these years, what a weird ass game. My friend got Guardian Heroes which was one of the main things that convinced me to get a Saturn. Pretty sure I didn't get into Pokemon till 97 but that woul be a game changer. Biggest regret is having overlooked Tempest 2000 at first.
>>12478990>raystormGood choice, I keep forgetting about that game.
Pic stolen from internet, it is missing a few PC games.
>>12480384Elder scrolls 2, civ 2, master of orion 2, fantasy general, so many others missing.Dark sun online: crimson sands was an early MMORPG build from the excellent SSI D&D franchise. 1996 was a crazy year.
>>12480384>best game on here is steel panthers and it's an objectively inferior version of its modern successorsPC gaming sure is slop huh
>>12480402The only good console games of 1996 were PC ports though.
>>12478952Missing best arcade game of 1996
>>12480402>the opinion of a poverty stricken console kiddie
>>12480424I don't really think grimderp casual story games and loot treadmills make for good gameplay
Stellaris, galciv and MoO3 were all still trying to catch up to this masterpiece.
>>12478950Panzer Dragoon Zwei for me, absolutely majestic game and the peak of its genre (although I haven't played Orta).
Between Resident Evil, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Tomb Raider... 1996 was one of the best years everBut even the lesser games can be great. For instance I love Machine Head and Necrodome, two games which scream "1996 design" to me and that couldn't have come out any other year.
>>12480505Skynet was 1996 as well. I still remember the first time seeing that package for sale with the embossed chrome box art.One of the better terminator game nof the 90s. Overshadowed by quake and duke3d, it had multiplayer and decent 3d visuals for ita day. Riding a jeep with a mounted canon was innovative for 1996.If it wasnt such a crowded FPS market it likely would have a bigger following even today.
Fantasy general had insane depth.>46 distinct cavalry units (excluding flying mounts like eagle riders, drakes and wyvern riders). Why?Because SSI were autistic about their war sims.
>>12480542
>>12480505my brother had this. pretty fucking fun from what i remember
>>12480384Quake for me.
>>12480505Holy brutal webm batman! This looks like proto carmageddon but better.
>>12480554>>12480617It's a great game yesProtip: there is one level that is hard to beat because of a jump that isn't do-able. You'll know it when you see it. That jump leads to a switch but you can actually shoot that switch from afar though it's not easy. The other solution is to use a cheat to skip to the next level, at that point there is only one enemy left and one small room in the stage anyway (but the fan compatibility patch makes it harder to input cheat codes for some reasons).
>Duke Nukem 3D>Tetris Attack>SM64>Pilotwings 64>Wave Race 64>Killer Instinct Gold>Mortal Kombat Trilogy>Shadows of the Empire1996 was a great year.
Giant robots are always cool
Crusader was another hit PC game lost to time. In fact when the first fallout game was released a year later in 1997 it was initially compared to crusader (just as an rpg isntead of isometric shooter).
>>12480395Civ 2 took so many hours of my life. Damn it was great.
>>12481035I love its cover art so much with those lines.
>>12480976Yeah mid 90s had its mecha games too.
>>12480484ThisSakura Wars is up there too
>>12478983>ALL the STRIKE gamesBased.Still kinda pissed that we never got a PC release of Soviet Strike.
>>12480428Pretty good too, beat em ups are always a must.
