>>12483238all the early 3D baseball games were a step backwards from the 16bit titles
>nobody's thought to make a good serious softball game yet

>>12483428>good>seriousI Love Softball on the NES is the best I've found
>>12483438>picking PabloYou didn't beat the game (No superaste el juego).
World Series on SEGAKen Griffey JR Baseball on SNESFrank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball on SNESAll Star Baseball on N64Legends of the Diamond on NES
Roger Clemens MVP baseball is the only one I’ve ever played and I love it. Bash brothers for the win, Oakland A’s are op as fuck in it.
>>12483238Baseball Stars was the gold standard on NES. Sadly the battery in my cartridge was constantly on the verge of death and deleted everything on a weekly basis, but the game was good enough that I kept playing anyway. I don't know how many times I had to start from scratch.
>>12483635Even without the steroids they probably would have still been one of the most OP teams of all time. I feel lucky to have seen them over a dozen times in '89. Got to see Ricky Henderson hit one of his lead-off homers and steal a million bases.
>>12483473First time I’ve ever seen this game mentioned and I agree this is the best softball game. Plays a lot like bad news baseball iirc.
>>12483438Forgot about backyard baseball. Such a fun game
>>12483641Damn that’s awesome that u were actually there to witness it. I only got into baseball the last few years (thanks weed, it made me appreciate the duel between pitcher and batter and just clicked, now I can watch it sober no problem) as I played soccer and basketball all my life and even college soccer because I thought the slow pace was dumb. Now I get it and also love statistics so blog over, but yea that must have been awesome to experience. W how many runs we get nowadays I think players are back on the juice and thank god because it’s boring af without it. Again, that’s pretty cool you got to see it live. I was only 4 at the time but when I got mvp baseball my brother explained to me why the names were changed from the RL ones. I love that game so much but as many seasons as I’ve started I’ve never finished one all the way to the end. It does get quite bullshitty hard sometimes and feels rigged once you’re deep in a season and the strat I personally use seems to stop working the closer to playoffs u get.
>>12484925I was only 11 but my parents let me and my little brother hop on a train by ourselves and go to Oakland even for night games. lmao. Crazy to think about now. I only recently got back into baseball but it feels like a good time. The WS last year was one of the best I've ever seen and I don't even mind the newer rule changes.
>>12483238shit ness earthbound if he used this site would say
>>12485449Yea last years WS was so fun and I’m a Braves fan but I’d say that was the most fun I’ve ever had watching a Baseball series and my team wasn’t even in it. It was really good. Also times sure have changed, no way you could go to Oakland now like that unsupervised. Better times for sure.
>>12483415They weren't bad until they became wallet milking roster updates.
>>12486903Nice anon. Also i agree maybe the first year or two of 3d sports games were bad like 95 96 or something but by 98 99 2000 they had em figured out and theyre good. Today yeah the games are almost like mobile gamss in their predatory skins players etc downlaods
>>12486903that started with the fifth gen 3D titles like what you posted. ask yourself what is appreciably different between the 989 series of baseball games for the PS1. the only time they were really trying different things with every title was around 2003-2006, and only the EA/2K games.
>>12486962>ask yourself what is appreciably different between the 989 series of baseball games for the PS1. Not a whole lot that I can recall. I went from the initial in the series (picrel) to 2000 and only noticed a few quality of life improvements aside from the roster. I'm wondering now, maybe roster updates were supposed to be the selling point? Triple Play and World Series baseball on genesis set the bar pretty high with regards to baseball games because they had MLBPA rosters and MLB teams. MLBPA baseball was the only snes baseball game with names (and no team names).
>>12486978it wasn't really expected that you'd buy every new release. the assumption was that someone would buy one year, then a different person would buy the game the next year. it wasn't until the 2010s when devs started making annual sports titles into FOMO mtx beasts. both Madden and NBA 2K introduced the always-online ultimate team stuff around 2013. and 2K started locking down their single player stuff with DRM in 2017 so that once the servers died (usually within two years) you couldn't play MyCareer or MyTeam anymore.
>>12487202Wait so you cant even play the game in single player after a few years??? Wtf ?
>>12483438still the GOAT
>>12483242this game is fun and all but when you play it you can tell it was designed to be a quarter muncher
