I tried downsizing my game collection but now I regret it so I'm stuck chasing down all of the games I sold and trying to get them back without spending more than I sold them for. This sucks.Never sell your games, it's not worth it.
it's just plastic crapsure you can hoard it to be speculative investor canceror you can just emulate on your phone like normal personone is having fun playing games other is mentally ill /vr/gin
Always sell your games, hoarding is never worth it.
>>12483778If you want physical copies of your absolute favorite games I get it but for everything else just buy an everdrive and quit bitching. Having a wall of plastic you never use is not healthy.
>>12483848No, they look like regular wooden shelves with stickers on em.
>>12483778Why did you sell your collection then? I don't plan to ever sell mine.
>>12483790Posting this take then attaching the coolest looking game shelf on the board is some crazy work.
>>12483889>coolest looking game shelfwhat a manchild
>>12483896
>>12483896>what a manchildYou're posting on a board about games you enjoyed playing as a child. I have some news for you, bucko...
>>12483851>wall of plasticI keep them in bins
>>12483887I didn't sell my collection, I downsized it. I started by selling off stuff that I thought I didn't care so much about, but as it turns out I did care. I still have most of my collection.
>>12483782Regarded as fuck. Playing on a phone is absolutely the most poor faggot tier way to play games, but hey if you enjoy it go for it. Still faggy as fuck.
>>12483960Retarded* damn auto correct
>>12483908>quit having funThats the problem. They aren't having fun.
>>12483851this is pretty much what i do, just buy some of the games i really like here and there to have the physical copies. i'd rather spend money on original controllers and accessories for the consoles and then use methods to play burned discs/multi carts.if you can find games at really good deals though then it can kind of make sense if you're certain that you can later sell for a profit.
>>12484062According to your biased allegations
>>12484086OP isn't. It's not even like he wanted to play the games he sold, he just didn't like the idea of not having them anymore.
>>12484089That's correct according to your biased allegations.
I'm close to offloading all the stuff I have that emulation has solved. The only thing stopping me is knowing it will only keep increasing in value. At one point in time FuncoLand would give you a penny for a copy of SMB/Duckhunt. One cent. Now a loose goes for about $10.
>>12484112Its correct according to ops own admission.
>>12484145Your interpretation of his admission is biased. Do you not understand subjectivity or what?
>>12483790that pic is fucking awesome, very creative
>>12483782Fuck this is good bait lmao
>>12484194genuine "you want you lose" material
>>12484175He's biased and he's right. I'm OP.
>>12483908whats crazy is I still have music tapes and VHS from the 80s that work. Anyone ever actually experienced disc rot?
Controversial take: You should do what makes you happy with your games.

>>12484468>t. a man sodomized me with an nes cart the other day. At first I was bummed about it but then I realized that he was probably more happy to rape me than I was sad to be raped. So the overall happiness in the world went up!
>>12484062The reason I'm not having fun is because I sold some of my games
>>12484089>he just didn't like the idea of not having them anymoreBecause I can't play them anymore
>>12484252It only happens if there's a manufacturing error or if you didn't take care of your disc and it got damaged.

>>12484791He can load those games onto an everdrive and play them whenever he wants.
>>12484828I don't have a flash cart for my Wonder Swan so I can't play those games now that I sold them. Emulation would suck due to the hardware being the way it is. I can't play the NeoGeo Pocket games because I sold my Neo Geo Pocket, and emulating those games would suck because it means playing without that clickt stick. I can't play the SNES games I sold because the extra chips aren't emulated correctly. You just pull shit out if your ass for the sake of arguing.
>>12484842You can get a wonderswan flash cart and learn japanese while youre at it, you can get an snes flash cart, you can get controllers that have a click stick. Simple and all for cheaper than buying your shit back.
>>12484851>You can get a wonderswan flash cartWhere? I've searched>you can get an snes flash cartThey don't emulate the special chips properly. Not even the FX PAK Pro does>you can get controllers that have a click stickThe closest would be the NeoGeo controller from 8bitdo (which I already have) and it's not the same.>Simple and all for cheaper than buying your shit back. It's not cheaper though
>>12484882>They don't emulate the special chips properly. Yeah it does.
>>12483778You downsized because you realized you would never actually play those games and had no intention of playing them. If you were playing them you wouldn't sell them unless you were an extreme retard.
If you saw the thread about the NES game collection a few days ago I swear to God I didn't make this one. I'm not homosexual enough to use a generic image or make a thread without a question or something interesting to say
>>12484882>it's not the same. Its not the same because its what a new neogeo pocket was like, not an quarter century old one.
>>12484987nta Guarantee you've never held one
>>12484989I have.
>>12484979No it doesn't>>12484981I downsized because the space where I store my games was cluttered and I wanted to empty it up a bit>>12484984You're pretty gay though>>12484987It's not the same because the travel is different since the mechanism is a different size.
>>12484992>No it doesn'tnta but what games don't run on it?
>>12484989The only thing he's ever held is dicks
>>12484994Games that use enhancement chips don't run properly because the FPGA emulation is shit.
>>12484992>I downsized because the space where I store my games was cluttered and I wanted to empty it up a bitYep, extreme retard.
>>12484998Which chips? It seems to support a lot of them. Even most romhacks run on it.
>>12484992>travel is differentimo its a bit better since its a little bigger. Like using a switch joycon thumbstick vs a proper one.
>>12485002Literally all of them
>>12484990I'll take your word for it, by the way I'm an award winning astrophysicist.
>>12485115Dont think so.
>>12485124>anon owning a neogeo pocket is as unbelievable as being him an astrophysicist
>>12485220It's not a matter of opinion
>>12485302Why? NeoGeo Pocket's are cheap. I had the blue camo one with Sonic, King of the Fighters R2, Gal Fighters, that Capcom vs SNK card battlers game, Metal Slug, and Evolution.
>>12485332Then post some proof. It seems to me theres only a small handful of obscure garbage thats not supported by it.
>>12483778The only reason I regret selling most of my physical game collection is not dumping my saves beforehand. Otherwise I've been living in a digital-only Valhalla for 10+ years now. I'll never understand physicalfags.
>>12485342The proof is on GitHub, go have a look.
>>12485386link?
>>12485393
>>12484116Lets say you could go back in time and tell your younger self to buy every 10-cent SMB/DH cart Funcoland had, and store them for 25 years until they are $10 a pop. Lets say you bought 1,000 of em. That's nearly $10,000 in pure profit right? Well, that was also 25 years of storing 1,000 NES cartridges. Since paying to store them would eat into the profits before you even sell them, it would be cheapest to store them at home, but that's 25 years of 1,000 SMB/DH carts sitting around your home collecting dust. All for a $10,000 profit in 25 years. You could get the same profit by finding a way to make another $400 a year. So if you collected a bit over $1 in loose change on a daily basis, you would come out the same, except you weren't holding onto 10,000 NES carts for 25 years.Videogames are not an investment, they are barely an asset.
>>12485564and when you consider inflation, that $10 you get from selling each cartridge is less than 10 cents anyway. Plus you have to consider ebay fees, shipping, and whatnot. In the end you probably lost money.
>>12483934>You're posting on a board about games you enjoyed playing as a child.i mostly browse to discover games i missed out on or was too retarded to play as a child.
>>12483908having a collection is nice. excessive collecting is called hoarding and a mental illness. Look at LGR for instance. Nigga built a fucking warehouse for his illness.>>12484252yes. My Sim City 2000 copy somehow got disc rot. But it's the only one.
>>12485678Who
>>12485537Thats what I figured.
>>12483778Just put it all in storage then have the storage unit robbed, you get over having a collection real quick
>>12485871this fat, bald retro game/hardware reviewer.
>>12483778>had a great collection that I actually played>got so much shit that is considered "rare" today in like 2011-2013, like a lot of saturn shit>2019 life getting in way and can't play as much so I put most of my shit in plastic boxes and in basement>one day it rains so fucking much and my basement starts flooding>stuff like Mega Man 8 and X4 on SAturn gets water damaged>all three panzer dragoon games>copies of fire emblem on GC>cubivore etcAnd that was the moment where I stoppped giving a shit about physical retro shit, I just emulate now. I just regret not being able to sell them for a good price cause they got damaged
>>12486280It sucks but at the same time you were set free.
>>12484252Disc rot, no. All my games are fine. I've had CRTs and consoles stop working a couple of times though.
Eh, as long as they are things you can emulate and you got a good amount out of em... I really wouldn't let yourself get down over it. Life is too short and chances are a lot of what you sold was collecting dust wasn't it? You sold em, got money you can use or save, and now you don't have to worry about a fire, a thief, or rust (some Biblical principles there). Moreover, what good is a rare game or two going to do when you pass away? If you're lucky perhaps your loved ones will know their value, but more than likely it'll end up at a goodwill. Have something meaningful planned for the money to go towards and move forward. Collecting is gay.
>>12486280It was a NDE that did it to me. Now if its not something I use or need I don't buy it.
>>12486280I'll also never forget when my boss at gamestops literal gaming museum in his basement got flooded. The rarest copies of everything you can think of and all sorts of memorabilia and displays, gone in an instant. I really should have learned the lesson then and there. I'll never forget the absolute nightmare that was helping him clean it all out.
man i sold a lot of nice stuff back in my teens.probably my only real regret.
>>12486884>>12486689It was freeing, I was upset after the first day, but after trying to dry them and "save" them I literally stopped caring. I realized I had a pc and can just play these games whenever I want, it's also a hassle to set up and change the cables everytime I want to try a different system.
>>12487236My only regret was selling mine to gamestop. If I could have got at value or higher than value, I would have been alright letting a lot of it go. Now though, I realize how much money I lost. I also wish I would have sold my psp persona collection when it still had value. Now that I think about it, I have a ROUGH copy of Rule of Rose I may throw up on ebay tomorrow and see if somebody will pay 500 bucks for it. Collectors are nuts and somebody may just bite.>>12487554That's one of the best feelings. When you realize how temporary all this sort of stuff is, you finally feel relieved to let it go. I'll never forget when my pastor began selling all his stuff. He later tells me that when he was finally getting rid of all of it his blood pressure went way down and he felt at ease to just not have it. I think for a lot of us we grew up in such a consumerist, collectors culture that we just accumulated way too much stuff and more often than not all that stuff is just sitting around collecting dust (hell, there was literally a pokemon commercial back in the day that said "the more you collect the more power you have!".)
>>12485302missing the point this hard seems to be on purpose, which proves how easy it is to lie on the internet
>>12485678>excessive means anything beyond my preference
>>12487236Same, but it also allowed me to buy new shit back then when I didn't have any money. I regret selling my nice Saturn collection now, but if I hadn't then I likely wouldn't have gotten a Dreamcast on launch day and have all the great memories owning that brought me. It's not like any of this shit is rare or impossible to find now anyway. Overpriced sure, but if you REALLY want your beloved childhood plastic back you can have it.
>>12487854I feel like the only thing people should really be collecting is stuff that doesn't emulate well. All my gaming memorabilia is just dust magnets now. The other issue is that as you collect it just looks trashy to see all your nerdy stuff together. Like, at some point, it begins looking like Chris Chans room.
Also, little story>when I was a teenager I saw a thread that had somebody with a Rob reacting to various pics>really want one after that>finally find a bid on two used robs >might as well give it a shot>score em both for 80 bucks>get them>years later start selling my collection>get to the Robs, think about selling them individually >look at them>realize the two of them have been together for so many years>lol, thats stupid... they are inanimate objects>keep staring at em>.....And I couldn't sell em. I felt too bad at the prospect of splitting them up or somebody else doing it because these dumb little robots have way too much personality.
>>12483960regardless it is better to emulate most of the time anyway.
>>12484062I have more fun collecting all kinds of crap than using it. I hope it makes you shocked and angry
>>12488956This just lends more credence to the idea that shelf collectors don't even play their games
>>12488962They get this hit of dopamine when they open the box. They put it on the shelf. They admire it for a week or two. It blends into the background. It becomes nothing.
>>12483778I sold bunch of my rare ps3 vita games I regret it but now I been modding all my retro console nothing beats real hardware on a crtv just need a N64 everdrive
>>12488956It doesn't shock me in the slightest that you don't play your games.
