Let me preface this I do not hate this game, I don’t not hate fans of this game and anyone involved in making it or marketing it. It’s all love here. Personally I find the game difficult, and I don’t like the way the character covers up what youre shooting at. Also presumably the arcade version is better looking but the genesis version is what gets included in most collections.

The whole gimmick of this game was the original hardware physically swung you around, not that it was a good game or anything. It's honestly pretty boring. You'll see a lot of geriatric collector types praise it because it was in shenmue or whatever.

My hand was killing me aftwrwards. Its fast, atmospheric, great music(song really), and lastly a lot of fun. I'm sure it seems dated nowadays and is mostly remembered for its off the wall stages/enemies but I bet seeing one back when it came out in '85 was an event.

>>12484589There was no gimmick, it felt a decade ahead of literally every other game in the arcade when it sat beside moon patrol and time pilot and the original super mario Vs cab. 16 bit color pallet (98k colors), 128 sprites per frame, scaling sprites and the splash screen had more color depth a detail than anything we had seen up to this point. The sounds too, its soundboard alone was more advanced than entire rival arcade motherboards. This was a 1990s game released in 1985. The rest of the gaming industry took years to catch up to the things sega AM2 was doing here. The Neo geo that eventually arrived and thrived in the 90s was essentially space harrier hardware stripped down to only half thr vram and only a single 68000, and that neo geo hardware lasted through the later half of the 90s.
