Mario 3's music is kind of ass. I mean it does some cool technical things with pushing the NES's audio capabilities, but for such an iconic game, it's got to have one of the weaker main themes.

Weak bait.

Is it? Mario 1's OST speaks for itself. I can let any weakness Mario 2's OST has fly, due to its weird cultural issues. World's OST mogs the FUCK out of 3's.

Mario 2 music rules. It has a schnazzy ragtime thing going on.
>>
It's effective game music. A lot of games have music that fits the gameplay well, but isn't something I'd wanna listen to outside of the game. Unless you like chiptunes, most NES music is going to fall into that category.

World 8 theme makes up for it
>>
For me it's the bonus level tune in the clouds

Sounds good to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEqzrpn7QuU

I agree, the Airship theme kicks ass as the only outlier but that's hardly an original composition and instead taken from one of the most famous songs of all time, so of course it does.

Well described

>Is it?

Yes. Some of the most memorable music came from SM3 so you're just a contrarian faggot.

The music is good, but it's one of the least replayable mario games of all.
It's all about surprising the player with new things and tricks that skip large parts of the levels.

It's as good as all the other Kondo works, the dude is a master of simple, effective and memorable video game music.
I remember basedfacing back when I first played Super Mario Galaxy on the wii and I got to the first hidden level that had that new version of the SMB3 2nd athletic theme, it's just iconic as any other Mario athletic theme

Deiniftely not ass. I think it's weaker than SMB1 and SMW, but still great. I love the tropical desert sound vibe it has.
