I thought this would be good for retro games but I tried using it while playing Capcom Arcade Stadium and I really don't like it. Is it just me or is it not a good controller?
should've bought a saturn controller instead. dumbass.
>>12487472Why would you want to use a d-pad for arcade games? That sounds retarded.
>>12487489>buying a shit neogeo CD pad instead of buying/building an arcade stickishiggydiggy
>>12487497I already have an arcade stick (a really nice one) but I thought that with this I could sit on my sofa and play
>>12487521what's stopping you from using your arcade stick on the couch? just put it on your lap
>>12487467>I thought this would be good Why would anyone think such a silly thing?
>>12487537It's not wireless
>>12487642
>>12487578Their shill game is strong
>>12487467it's a nice replica, i have one.but i understand that it may not be for everyone.try to get one of pic related, it's a solid saturn controller clone.
>>12487489>Why would you want to use a d-pad for arcade games?Because the d-pad is an objectively superior input method to the joystick, which only persisted because having a d-pad on a public arcade machine was impractical.
>>12487467This and the one made for the Neo-Geo arcade mini are made with shit quality parts. Stick with OEM controllers (and keep them properly cleaned) and avoid repos.
bro?? your 8bitdo m30???
>>12487659Do you use it for anything besides fighting games? I was playing Capcom Arcade Stadium and tried to play 1943 and it wasn't so great. And for Puyo Puyo Tetris is was awful. But it was pretty ok for the NeoGeo Pocket collections >>12487660It depends on the type of game that you're playing.>>12487730I have one but I only use it for my Mega Drive
>>12487740>Do you use it for anything besides fighting games?the neogeo cd pad? yes.i played through momodora moonlit farewell with it and it was great.i also sometimes use it to play shmups. though i prefer the madcatz brawlpad for that as the dpad is more responsive. but i like the neogeo cd stick feedback too.dunno how the m30 dpad compares against the madcatz brawlpad, but you should definitely give it a try for games other than just genesis.
>>12487674>This and the one made for the Neo-Geo arcade mini are made with shit quality parts. The 8bitdo uses the same switches as the original one. The mini is a analog stick. You have no idea what you are talking about.
>>12487489Because Neo Geo's mini stick is the worst of both worlds. You don't get the minute precision of a joystick, since you have to use your thumb, and that thumb has a huge amount of travel to pass before your input registers compared to a d-pad. I bought that pad out of sheer curiosity and it's easily the worst impulse purchase I've made in past 5 years.
>>12487659>it's a solid saturn controller clone.oh my days. what the fuck
>>12487467>>12487497>>12487578>>12487994It's awesome. It's just for fighters though, or a game where you want really precise clicky direction inputs. >>12487472I have both. I like both. SNK controller is better for 4 button fighters.
>>12487730love this lil nigga
It would be the perfect controller for fighters if it had six frontal buttons>But only SF uses six buttons!!!1Yeah and it's the king of fighters (ba dum tss)
>>12487467Is this that controller people were complaining about because the original was similar to an arcade stick with a bunch of little switches but this one has a normal stick? Or was that the official SNK controller for that neo geo nostalgia box they put out a few years ago?
>>12488389Probably the latter. I've got the one in the OP and even disassembled it, and it's got four switches like an arcade stick.>>12488339>or a game where you want really precise clicky direction inputsI got it for shmups but found it to be pretty bad for those. The dead zone is huge (even after making the shaft a little thicker with some tape) and quick and well-measured inputs are very hard to pull off because of the switches having an unreliable activation point.I can see it being pretty going for fightans though, I just haven't tried it yet on those.
>>12487467I personally love it.I use it for all retrogsming before gen5, arcade games and shumps in general. For fighters could be good, but there aren't enough buttons on it. You can play virtual fighter tho.
Retrobit MD controllers are the best pads, otherwise stick to sticks.
>>12488995I got their saturn pro pad (after some anon recommended it here a few months ago) and it's really good too, it's got the best dpad I've ever tried so far.If only its dpad were matte like the M30's instead of slightly glossy (and sticky) it would be perfect, although I can understand they wanted to be faithful to the original.>>12488958Have you only played classic shmups or danmaku games as well? I'm curious about how well it's served you for micrododging.
>>12489145I play both, but I'm not good by any means. ofc i micrododge with it, since it has 2,4g I don't feel input lag by any means also in wireless, but I'm not on the level to play on lunatic, or similar shit. So dunno what kind of performance u want(it's also ofc a matter of muscle mem, and sync with the pad itself)
