Altered Beast for SEGA Genesis has an options screen where you can choose which level to start from, including the last one, you're expected to press "B + Start" on the title screen to bring this up... therefore it's a secret and also cheating, right? Well, both the US and original Japanese manuals tell you to do this, also if you get "Game Over" and access this screen, the "Round" option will be in the level you lost in, almost inviting you to continue from there.I managed to finish it, but I had to use that screen to go back to levels 4 and 5 after losing all of my lives on them, so I think I did beat is since I used mechanics the developers told me to, didn't I?
Who gives a fuck?
>>12491508Rest easy, anon. You legitimately beat the game. But also that game is like 10 minutes long so if you spent a weekend playing it over and over you'd have it mastered.
>>12491508Anon, if you want to abide by the "no continues 1cc or you didn't beat the game " rule some autits here pretend to abide by then that's up to you. But hqving just played the game, just ask yourself: does that seem like a reasonable or fun way to play it? It's a coin-op game. Back in the arcade you'd have "beat" it by feeding as many quarters as you needed fo. In the home version you just pay up front and then continue as often as you need to. It's not cheating. Skipping straight to the last stage is, though
Altered Beast is more of a visual spectacle than a real game. Nobody ever played this for the gameplay.
>>12491508The manual also says you can push A + Start on the title screen to continue.
WISE FROM YOUR GWABE AND WESCUE MY DAWTER
>>12491548This. The game blows. The only winning move is not to play.
>>12491508i'm sure i "beat" my "beast" every night.
You need to beat the entire game without taking damage at all, or else you didn't really beat the game.
>>12491508Console ports of arcade games mainly existed as a way to practice. You haven't really beaten the game until you've used your skills to 1cc the game on an original arcade cabinet in front of a crowd of people.
>>12491623Oh, there's that too.Is the Genesis version the only one that tells you to continue in the manual or do any of the other console versions do this? (Master System, NES, PC Engine, etc...)
