>be me
>hear that this game is the coolest thing ever back in the day
>import a dreamcast copy from Japan
>get into first segment
>fuck up almost immediately
>back out in the menu
>have to wait for the 10 second cutscene again
>fuck up again
>have to wait again
>no other way to play the game, no quick restart, no practice mode
>stop playing
Why the fuck did they make it that way? This is downright retarded
>>
lol retard

Just emulate it and savescum a 1cc like the rest of us
>>
>>12493597
Ikaruga is very forgiving by shmup standards. You just fucking suck, OP.
>>
>>12493608
OK. Why doesn't the game give me a real way of practicing each individual section and getting better?
>>
>>12493615
Why don't most shmups? Like, what the fuck are you even asking me? If you think the first level is difficult, I'm not sure any amount of practice will ever help you. The game lets you absorb shots, spam homing specials, and even run the clock out on bosses. You can even slip between objects easily due to the tiny hitbox.

You're simply not meant to die that quickly, OP. This is a very legitimate case of just git gud.
>>
>>12493625
99% of shmups have an actual practice mode which at least lets you stage select and not see any fucking cutscenes between tries.
Stage 1 doesn't seem too hard, and I'm sure I could have gotten past it with enough tries, I can get pretty far in Ketsui for example, but why bother waiting for the same boring cutscene for the 5000th times?

Console ports, maybe. I mostly play arcade. Maybe try one of the later releases and see if they have some QoL improvements?
>>
Can you stick to one thread instead of copy pasting the Starfox threads?

I am that guy you linked to and I can confirm, I am not the guy you're responding to in this thread. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Just play the gamecube version, it let's you practice individual sections as well as stages as you unlock them.
>>
>>12493667
No? I don't really get what you're even insinuating. This fucking board is weird even by chan standards. I can't tell if there's just one or multiple autists constantly being dramatic.
>>
>>12493667
Yes.
>>
>>12493597
Got btfo in the starfox thread, huh?
>>
>>12493673
OP can't beat stage 1, though.
>>
>>12493721
I am capable of beating it. The game forcing me to watch a five hour cutscene on each restart dissuades me from trying, though,
>>
Why is OP melting down and spamming shit threads again?
>>
>>12493726
On the gamecube version you can also disable the mode/difficulty selection to skip the cutscene with the guy walking in slow motion.
>>
>>12493727
he just got unbanned
