>>12493707Not really laziness, more like memory limitations. They didn't have the space to cram that many different sprites, so recolored characters were their best choice. Otherwise they'd ended in a situation like Vampire Savior / Vampire Savior 2 / Vampire Hunter 2, where they had to make separate games with different characters to accomodate them all.
batman forever kind of looks lazy from a modern perspective so it came to mind. but it's actually an awesome game for it's art style, really captured the batman forever vibe.
