What do we think of the Gameboy Micro?
>>12494779Kinda neat, but also kinda dumb. Makes text harder to read. More of a gimmick than anything when a folded SP isn't that much larger.
>>12494779I had one and I liked it a lot. I also know its almost universally hated. Obviously I disagree. I've get one again if it were cheap and available.
>>12494787And now back to Ed Edd n Eddy
i had one for the longest time and i think i lent it to a friend and didnt get it back. miss the hell out of it, but maybe if I still had it i wouldnt use it?i beat doom on ultra violence on it which I was kind of proud of.
>>12494779Good size for the ass if you're just getting in to handhelds. Might be a bit too small for experienced players.
It was a bit too big
>>12494779Too damn tiny to actually use.
>>12494779Removing GB/GBC compatibility was just BS.
>>12495480Years ago someone found a way to glitch it so it ran in GB mode and it ran without issues. Normal GBAs have a switch in the cartridge port that gets pressed (or not pressed, I forget which is which) by GB carts but not GBA carts because GB carts need 5v but GBA carts need 3v. I don't know what they did with the micro or why but all the GB hardware is still present.
>>12495503You can run GBA, GBC, GB, and NES on a Game Boy Micro with a $50 EZ Flash Omega flash cart, so all of the Micro's limitations have been basically eliminated by the innovations of the bootleg market at this point. Everything except system link that is.
Too small. The SP was the GOAT handheld gaming device and if you disagree you're a retard
>>12495509That's because it has emulators running in GBA mode. If you want to play GB/GBC games with cart-specific features, you're SOL. Also, the emulation is OK but far from perfect.
>>12494803>also know its almost universally hated.Huh?
>>12495503>>12497016Ok
This definitely struck me as a but why though thing when it released. I kinda want to play something on one now just for the novelty, but even then, I can't imagine it would ever replace playing games on an SP, or even an original GBA in proper lighting
>>12495734Modded GBA > Backlit SP > Fronlit SP > Micro > unmodded GBAThe OG GBA is far more comfortable to hold than the SP but it's fucking stupid that it didn't come with a backlight.
>>12494803It's not universally hated, it's just one of the most redundant handhelds to ever exist. SPs were still being sold and for much cheaper than the Micro. The DS was already out too which had GBA support built in. So there was literally no reason to get it besides the form factor. It's not even a bad handheld, it does it's job fine it's just why would you chose it over the superior alternatives that give you either full Game Boy compatibility or the ability to play DS games alongside GBA games?
>>12497327unmodded>modded
>>12497327My pulled-out-of-ass guess is that the tech for a rechargeable internal battery just wasn't there yet, and power drain while still using AAs would've been on par with a GBC with a worm light plugged in
>>12497382lithium ion batteries were already commonplace in laptops by the mid 90s. It was more so to cut down on costs which has always been Nintendo's priority with their handhelds.
wish I still had one. was my favorite gameboy model easily. I like small things
Unless you have fatso little hands it's way too small
>>12497348This.The micro was marketed as a kind of fashionable little luxury console. For what it's worth I think the screen looks fantastic and the size, while small, is the exact size of a GBA game resolution, not less, not more. That makes GBA games look incredibly clear and crisp.
i had friends that loved theirs but it was a little too small for me. despite that, it looks nice and has a fantastic screen in it. i wish i would have grabbed one when they were on sale at the end of their lifespan, but i don't think i would have used it much. i have a modded original gba (sp screen swap) and for me that's the perfect gba.
