I’m planning to buy a PS1 fat with an xStation so I can play PS1 games on my CRT. My original plan was to use my PS2 fat to run PS1 games on a CRT, but Popstarter turned out to be worse than I expected. A lot of the games I wanted to play have pretty annoying graphical and audio glitches, which kind of kills the magic of playing them in the most faithful way possible. Because of that, I’ve been considering getting a PS1 fat with xStation instead to properly do this. Considering I’d have to spend around $170 USD to buy one in my country, compared to just using what I already have with either my PS2 or a modded PSP.I’d like to know your experiences with this setup. Is it worth it? Thanks!
What's there on the 170X?
It pays for itself. It's so worth having. Just be sure to grab an s video cable because composite looks like shit and you literally cannot read the text in some games because it's so fuzzy
>>12495213Yeah it's literally everything you would ever want. There's still some mythical final update in the pipeline but if it's never released I will never care. I want to recap my PS1 however because I've done a few other PS1 consoles and they're showing aging caps.
>>12495213I have played many hours on my xStation PS1 via s-video on a CRT and have had zero issues. My critiques after ~100+ hours: >Getting the microsd card out can be mildly troublesome at times. >The front end is very bare bones. Could be considered a positive thing depending on your personal taste and preference.>Losing disc read sucks if you want to use the PS1 as a CD player or play your collection. I don’t have a physical collection of PS1 games so the xStation fits my use case perfectly and I would purchase another with zero hesitation.
>>12495213Question is a bit Reddit-ish but ok.
