Do you do anything to "catalog" or track your game collection? Do you keep track of your loose games and complete games, etc.? Do you keep track of your beaten/completed games? How do you do it? Backloggery? Other website? Google doc? .txt file? Physical notepad? Any specialized niche software? Do you keep checklists of games to look for or are all your purchases/downloads pure impulse?I have weapons-grade autism and I really like tracking things and hearing how others do it.
no
>>12496891I’m tracking. Forwarded up CoC
Also no.
>>12496891I use an excel spreadsheet
>>12496908Same. Huge spreadsheet split into lists by generation, and depending on the game, further into franchises, mods and fanmades. For arcade games I only track 1cc's and scores, for the rest, it depends on the objective/nature of the game, but the norm is to track the dates of whenever I achieve any objective in particular I have with that game. I only started to do this last year so it's relatively empty. Then ironically, I only use backloggd to track games I'm finished with (same deal, I store dates of milestones as logs). I don't keep a particular backlog, if a game looks interesting I just bookmark it. I have absolutely zero reason to do any of this, it's just fun to make and then look back at.
Gameye app simple as
No but if I want to replay something I keep it in a folder
I tried doing that like 3 or 4 times, but each time my autism got the better of me, and I was spending more time looking for apps, sites, or formatting spreadsheets than actually playing games, so I stopped doing it
>>12496986It's crazy that nobody's bothered to make dedicated software for it yet, considering how "trendy" retro gaming has become. The backloggery is the closest thing but it's such a shitty mess of a site.
>>12496891I am pretty much at the point that for most retro cartridge based systems, i am less than 100 games away from either complete sets or every game i want for a platform.(for example i want every nes release within reason, but for game gear i filtered out a lot of sports and game show stuff) I have lists saved, but honestly i usually just remember what i have or dont have based on either the cover or from having played it.I use red stickers on my games to indicate stuff i have 100% completed and green stickers to indicate games with coop modes.
>>12496891Retroachievements>Inb4 4channers complaining about a website being full of edgelords and degenerates... Pot: kettle
>>12496891I use backloggd to keep track of the playtime logs and of the current backlog/completion list. Works great.
>>12497076>edgelords and degenerates No, the complaint about RA is that it's full of literal troons who get games banned. Have they re-added Clover and the other banned games, by the way?
>>12496891That's not autism, it's normal mental masturbation. You fags want to be mentally ill so bad.
>>12496891Yes, I track my collection in Gameye but occasionally I find that some of my stuff isn't in the database. Usually obscure stuff, like niche old Japanese computers.

>>12497317>You fags want to be mentally ill so bad.We just want to be more like (You) anon!
>>12497076>>12497334A site with a curated database that doesn't let you input your own games isn't great for tracking collections.>>12497273Achievements are for children, why do you care?
>>12497385>doesn't let you input your own gamesWhat are you talking about? If something is missing from the database you can just submit a ticket on the website after making an account and it'll get added. I just don't do it because I'm lazy and everything gets added eventually since the app is in active development.
>>12497428>can't type in your own game but you can message daddy mod to do it for youbleak
>>12497435You make the listing and the dev team just has to approve it. But the database is massive so the only stuff that's going to be there is extremely obscure stuff like an NEC PC-6001 computer, or Sord M5 games.
>>12496891Spreadsheet, tracking where I own them, when I last played/beat it, who recommended it to me, notes, etc. Helps me avoid buying or looking for something I already have, reminds me of games I thought looked interesting but might have forgotten about when I have an opening to start something new. There are things I don't track as well, such as how many hours it took me to finish the game. If I feel like it's dragging, or side content wasn't worth it, it will be reflected in the score and I'll mention it in the notes, so I don't think an actual number would be very meaningful.
>>12496891I have all my roms organized by folders. Yes.I will never buy a retro game again.
I list everything in .txt files. I'm kinda organized in my own messy way as usual, I keep everything in two seperate txt files, one for NES games (the biggest list for a single console for me) and one for everything else, except the "everything else" file is called "SNESgameslist.txt" because at first it was for SNES games before I decided to use it for everything else too.I've been thinking of converting everything to spreadsheets but other than neatly organizing one tab per system I don't really NEED it that much since I just need lists of namesHere is every Saturn game I beat from that list
I use Backloggery combined with my own spreadsheet.
>>12496891I used to have a spreadsheet, but i just use backloggd now, if it's not there i just don't log it. Backloggd it's good to wishlist new games, but for retro games i just download in pure impulse, whatever looks nice i download
>>12496891I don't, because remembering every single game I played until would be impossible, so my list would be incomplete by default, no I never bother.
>>12496891Yes, I have this thing called a brain that automatically stores information about things I've done.
>>12497273you lost
>>12498593Which was your third favorite game you beat in 2013? Which was the fourth worst game you played in 2019? Why?
>>12498593Try to say that again once you've beaten 1209 retro games that fall under this board's rules
>>12498619Why would I care?>>12498635I play games to enjoy them, not to try to impress other people with how many I've beaten.
>>12498641You don't have a reason to care, but it would be cool to know. At least you have your own Top 5 favorite games of all time? Off the top of your head?

pricecharting.com for all the games I own, have on backlog, and have lent out. google spreadsheets for games i want to buy, which i reference whenever I'm in a retro have store/ convention.
