For me it's the rumble version of Super Mario 64 released exclusively in Japan, not rare by any means but the unique cover art and rumble pak support is quite interesting and I believe it fixes a lot of bugs and glitches from the original release.

The DVD-ROM version of Girlfriend of Steel, only released within a boxset of 5000 limited units (despite this, it's not really hard to find it online for sale last time I checked).
Main difference is obviously being on DVD (1 disc vs 4 discs on the original CD-ROM ver), and the cover art has a slight edit and the game title on red (original was in pink/fuchsia)

Also removed gay bowser.

Bomberman 93 Special Version on PC Engine is a multiplayer only game used in competitions and then sold through Hudson product catalogs.

The box art is pretty weird. You wouldn't normally see artwork where the hero is frowning and the villain is smiling for the box.

Because Bowser is called King Koopa in Japan.

I like it personally, the protagonist and villian arms crossed standing back to back cliche still works on me.

There was a special gold edition Super Nintendo that came bundled with Link to the Past.

>Because Bowser is called King Koopa in Japan
You've got that backwards. Koopa is called Bowser in America.

This version of the game completely mindbreaks speedtroons.

>de canonizes gay bowser

He says "So long, King Bowser!" so it was never canon from the start.
>>
>>12497292

You intended to say "so long, big Bowser" but I forgive you.

According to voice actor Charles Martinet, the intended line is "So long, Kinga Bowser!".
>>
>>12497298
Fortunately I have ears and the used audio is extremely clearly not "kinga" unless you believe Nintendo edited most of that single word out of the sound clip. "So long, eh bowser?", "So long, 'kay bowser", anything makes more sense than the official explanation of the VA almost three decades after he recorded it.

They are like that because they just compared dick sizes.
>>
actually the line is "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE BOWSER YOU FUCKING FAGGOT"
>>
>>12497346
"Kinga" as in King-eh or King-ah Bowser, you only don't hear it because part of the voice sample was cut which is why using that video is useless to disproving my point, it's been officially stated what Mario intended to say and it was just a fault of the audio not working properly.

Resident Evil 4 GameStop special edition. It is just like Resident Evil 4, but purchased from GameStop.

I wonder how many people who bought the originals actually purchased these rereleases when they were new.
There's Silent Hill 2 Saigo no Uta for PS2, aka the Greatest Hits release of SH2 in the USA, aka the PS2 release of the XBOX version of SH2. Most notably it adds the Born from a Wish scenario and some extra endings. It would seem that either the original PS2 version was rushed out the door or was purposely curtailed so as to allow for this special edition (which was more obviously a special edition in Japan), or maybe even to boost sales of the later XBOX version, because a prototype preview build of the original PS2 game was dumped a few years ago, and it revealed that Born from a Wish was already started before the base PS2 version was finished.
It's a cool release and definitely the definitive way to play the game, but I would imagine only the most hardcore of SH2 fans would've double dipped at retail price. Granted, it still doesn't top the original Resident Evil's three different releases.

Except in every voice clip of Martinet adding an italian-esque -a to a word, it's the short "ah" sound. Let's-ah go. I'm-ah tired. The Bowser line is a long "ay" sound which doesn't match any part of "king-a" in the Mario voice.

Every single version of Mario 64 is special because each one is personalized :)

That gamestop metal case is just like the Akira DVD special edition from 2001
