I've never seen a thread about The Lion King, but I've seen dozens about Aladdin on /vr/. Why don't this one get much love?
>>12497981SNES vs Genesis Aladdin is both a frequent consolewarrior topic and an eastern devs vs western devs topic. Yeah there's LK on both Genesis and SNES, but they're the same game and of similar enough quality that it really doesn't make for as juicy of warbait.
had multiple filtersthe monkey bullshit would hard check kids who were too impatient to pay attention to how they interacted with each otherand if you made it all the way to the final level, you're subjected to a maze with respawning enemies that can easily fuck you upthen the Scar boss fight itself is pretty bullshit with the hit detectionit's a beautiful game for the time, but it's a pain in the ass to playalso,Aladdin is better than The Lion Kingboth are ripoffs of prior animated works
Because outside of it's good graphics and music, and some semi fun parts, the game is just ok, I actually got this as a kid right when it came out, and got good enough to be able to consistently beat the 2nd level, which filtered me at first, then made my way through the game but could never beat the adult simba level on the lava cavern.Beat it as an adult but I still think it's just OK.Disney games peaked with Capcom and Sega and they never got games as good as those ones again.
>>12497984What did Aladdin rip off? Some older Aladdin cartoon?
>>12498048Cobbler and the Thief which was pitched to Disney and rejected or something and then suddenly Disney has their own Arabian fantasy cartoon with Aladdin .Like Kimba, Cobbler and the Thief sucks ass though and Disney's knockoff was better
>>12498053I think Cobbler is a neat film visually, but enjoy Aladdin much moreKimba, yeah, I'd probably rather watch a brief movie than the same story played out over 50+ episodes of not particularly well-animated seriesNadia vs Atlantis is probably the only matchup where I prefer the source, but it does have pacing issues
>>12498053Not a fair comparison, Thief and the Cobbler was never actually finished, it just got released in a shitty, incomplete state that completely ignored the director’s vision. Richard Williams was incredible, see: Who Framed Roger Rabbit, A Christmas Carol, and his long resume of commercials (especially his Superman ones).
>>12498053Richard Williams worked on that for like 30 years only for it to get fucked over by the production company to make it more like Aladdin
>>12497982FPBP. If Lion King had a jap-made game on the SNES, you would never stop hearing about the superiority of the Genesis version.
>>12498430Williams was a primadonna who bit the hand who fed him by wasting too much money fucking around on animated entire sequences he dropped instead of just making the damn movie. Also, see Ralph Bakshi. He pulled the same shit.
>>12497981Because it's not Aladdin
>>12497982/thread
>>12497981Because it's a multiplat.
>>12497981>worse animation>Blockbuster difficulty>less interesting levelsSomehow I beat it on all difficulty levels but it's honestly just not as good overall as Aladdin, and I don't even like Aladdin that much.
>>12498053>>12498060We all know that Lion King is more Hamlet than Kimba but honestly a lot of the similarities are obviously there and it's insane how a lot of people deny it just to be contrarian. It also makes all of the sense given that disney animators and producerd at the time were more or less in their 20s and 30s back in the 90s and that means they absolutely were kids when Kimba was airing on american TV back in the 60s, and them working on the animation industry, I won't believe the bs that they "had no idea" about it.The atlantis and Nadia thing is even more perplexing though because Nadia was never released in USA until 2001 when ADV released the DVDs, which is also the same year Atlantis released, funny coincidence?
