>>12498786>Aahhhhh!! Reeee!! Normies who didn't care about gaming before 2001 are now pretending to be trve gamers all because of the cinematics!

I like both GTA3 and Half Life but they are responsible for the cancer ruining singleplayer games today. GTA for the forced open world bullshit and Half Life for the "cinematic" tutorial heavy movie game slop. There's really no argument against this.
>>12498796Doesn't that make Vice City the bestest GTA?
>>12498793No one mentioned Resident Evil Remake, why are you so obsessed with that game? This isn't healthy.
>>12499028>"cinematic" tutorial>Skip the first chapter>99.9% of the game is pure actionI'm tired of hl getting shat on endlessly because they dared to set the context for the story. Makes you faggots sound like you barely got past the beginning.
>>12499034It's not so egregious for it happening once in one game. But Half Life obviously set the trend for forcing it into near every single FPS since the 2000s. Even 2001 Halo has a bullshit forced tutorial section.
>>12499061The "cinematic" intro had a point in half life: set the context and create a sense of suspense. The game is not at fault for being so influential it made every other developer implement it wrong just to keep the trend. The actual tutorial of half life is completely separate to the campaign and optional anyway.
>>12498918>t. handsome chad
>>12498786>ruinsBut it led to BMX XXX
>>12498786absolute truth. 3D open world sandbox games are fucking garbage as a whole. the firs two GTA games were so good, and then this piece of trash happened and rockstar never made another good game. just give me some more classic lemmings, man.
>>12499648no fucking way, get the fuck outta here
>>12498786I liked how III retained some of the arcadeyness of GTA and GTA2. I was kinda disappointed to find out VC removed getting money for blowing up shit and SA made Rampages multiplayer only for some fucking reason.
>>12498812>saturn fanfiction threadsWTF?
>>12498796>best GTAThat title belongs to IV. San Andreas is definitely the most fun though and I still enjoy replaying III due to the hilarious radio and NPC dialogue.
>>12498786t. Beavers fan
>>12499028>GTA for the forced open world bullshitit was inevitable games would go open world. GTA3 just happened to be the first really successful one (it wasn't even the first in general)>Half Life for the "cinematic" tutorial heavy movie game slopwhy do /v/ tards keep repeating this drivel?what half-life did is literally opposite of cinematic: instead of constant cutscenes with directed camera angles, ie. what you would see in a movie, you instead always retain first person perspective and control of the player (even if you get restricted to an area during some sequence). it was the least cinematic and instead most immersive action fps at the time.
>>12501879game that tells any kind of story = cinematic in zoomspeak. half-life is not doom. that’s the shift. you’re correct about what half-life actually was, of course.
>>12498816no because you subhumans turned this boardinto a pile of shit
>>12501879retards on /vr/ believe>immersion = movie
>another popular thing X ruined gaming thread>forma de /vr/ as a bonus
>>12498786
>>12501879>you instead always retain first person perspective and control of the playerThis is a trillion times more insufferable than unskipable cutscenes. I'll add that love Half Life 2 as well but that interactive cutscene shit is a pure cancer on videogames.
