Am I the only one here whose absolute favorite game is this? If not is it at least in your top 5?
It's good but Thief 1/2 and Deus ex are just the better games System shock 2 doesn't have the genius level design of those games
>>12499024I found Deus Ex to have really unremarkable and weak level design. Its just too open and empty. SS2 is much more claustrophobic but way more interesting level wise. I haven't played DX past the part where you're imprisoned though.
>>12499023It's got to be up there. This dirty jew was on a roll back in the day
>>12499023I played both and I think the first is the better game honestly. The ending of 2 is so shit, the weapon durability is ass, and the skill system seems kinda lazy. Respawning enemies kinda shitty tooGame feels short and rushed. It's not a bad game but it feels like it didnt reach its full potential
I think the RPG elements of SS2 suck a little too much to call it one of the best games ever. Also, Command Deck, the Rickenbacker, Body of the Many and Where Am I? are also far worse than Med/Sci through Recreation.
>>12499023I wish there were more games as immersive as System Shock 2. This one was that kind of game that got me so hooked I was seeing cyberspace hell techno in my dreams
>>12499026I always thought Deus Ex was overrated (still good) but he's right about Thief 1 and 2.
>>12499558I don't think you're appreciating the WOW factor, or how those levels vary up the gameplay.Having been a while I remember in Rickenbacker going through an inverted chapel where the cieling was the floor and vice versa. The Body of the Many felt like I was inside a living organism. Both of these made it feel like it was not more of the same.
>>12499724Nah, they're ass to play
>>12499738All of Rickenbacker was really fun except for the retarded egg hunt.
>>12499724>the WOW factorGlad you mentioned that. Game has tons of mind blowing moments.
>>12499023are the puzzles as hard as in 1?
>>12499759I never had trouble finding all the eggs for some reason but finding the code numbers in the paintings kept me running around in circles for a while.
>>12499876They are all pretty straightforward except for the paintings in Recreation. But that's only because they do a horrendous job at explaining what to do.>>12499882I always read up on their locations when replaying Rec:First cybernetic upgrade unitPool tablesShopping mall upper floorCrew quarters in annelid infested room right next to locked room
>>12499026>this im-sim is just... too open!>ahh the linear corridors of citadel station! perfect!you can say the same thing about thief. I think you have different taste and that's fine but you're still wrong
>>12499023It's a poor man's Deus ex
>>12499023dead space stations are just not as interesting as places that are alive and interactive (deus ex / ultima underworld). I would love a retro style System Shock 1 style game on Earth as the hacker dude. All those weird menus and interactivity in a living place would be fun to explore.
>>12499026>I haven't played DX past the part where you're imprisoned though. You literally stopped where the game started picking up the pace.
>>12499023It was way too spooky for me
>>12500898I'll give you that. The game is creepy as absolute hell. Only scarier games I played are Condemned and Silent Hill 4.
>>12500898>game starts out a bit slower and spookier despite the techno music>mfw after getting some upgrades to move faster and shoot better, acquiring heavier weapons, armor
