Is there a point in having Knuckles falling you around? Seems to me that he gets more in the way than anything. Taking rings on the bonus game and then eating a bomb, striking a boss as you're jumping on it so you just fall through.

Obviously bait, but people do mentuon Tails "stealing" rings a lot in the special stages. He only grabs the ones you miss, unless you somehow manage to get him in the lead position. Anybody who blames Tails for losing a round would have had an even lower ring count without him.
