What's the best remake of SMB1 and why is it pic related?
>>
MarI/O was good too but that's not retro.
Not sure if Crossover is retro either, when did it come out?
SNES SMB1 wasn't a good remake because of the brick smashing physics

belmont with double jumps feels so good

Remakes are considered retro on this board by default.

This board sucks ass, then

30 RE3 remake threads incoming

Doesn't this game has some sort of sequel/overhaul with a bajillion more options? That is the best SMB1 remake.

conceptually cool but it just doesn't play well compared to any actual mario game

I remember a version of this game where you could switch between different art styles. The last time I played it was through BlueMaxima's Flashpoint.
Super Mario Bros. Remastered is pretty cool, too, despite being essentially a Mario Maker clone with some new features. You can download level packs and skins for it.

>SNES SMB1 wasn't a good remake because of the brick smashing physics
SNES SMB1 with the one-byte fix patch, on the other hand...
>>
>>12507221
Yeah, I even remember the site for it (exploding rabbit) but the ability to play it's since lapsed of course and I can't find the flash file for it. Damn shame because it had a lot of different sprites for each character (including Pit for Samus and Kunio for Simon) as well as the choice to play level layouts from different versions of Super Mario Bros.. Special was one of them, I forget what the third was.

Remakes =/= remasters. Otherwise we'd have hundreds of RE4make, SH2make, and FF7make threads
Also Mario Crossover isn't a remake or remaster, it's a fangame like Cat Mario or Smash Flash, and its NOT RETRO since it released in 2010
>>
>>12509375
2010 IS retro though

What happened to Jay Pavlina? He just dropped off the Earth one day.

>Remakes =/= remasters.
Both are considered retro. Incidentally, there is a REmake thread up right now. And a MoH remake thread.
>Also Mario Crossover isn't a remake or remaster, it's a fangame like Cat Mario or Smash Flash, and its NOT RETRO since it released in 2010
Recreating SMB1 and Mario's gameplay faithfully makes it a remake, just an enhanced one with more elements. Cat Mario doesn't even have the same graphics, let alone gameplay. Same with Smash Flash.

It does, just not for the reasons you think it does.

He rarely posts videos at his Youtube channel saying that he hasn't enough free time to work on videogames anymore.
