I know they made a new one but I haven't listened to it yet. Either way, they earned the right to not be laughed out of town by the grandfather clause. If they tried to do the first album today, they'd be buried in the sea of reddit manchild IP nostalgiawanking that's been mainstream ever since 2015, even though they're completely genuine. And it isn't even specific to music, all of the nice ways they were able to incorporate classic elements of the games like the intro and end of the first album and even using Mega Man as a basis for the story at all is common with every autistic fanfiction writer on Deviantart and Reddit who are so poisoned by references they need to cram them into everything. The celebration of fandom's become so strong now the point where it's completely eclipsed everything a fandom could be over to begin with. The only real difference I guess is it's not weaboo trash and they used the American names.

You can't have "Dude, remember VIDEO GAMES!?" acts anymore and not have them be "reddit manchild IP nostalgiawanking". Closest you have is the odd original composer doing random shows celebrating their work somewhere, and that's about it... and that's still pretty cringe.Seriously though, what could you do to not have it be "dude, nostalgia, lmao" without it just transforming into something completely different from vidya?
Probably not a popular opinion, but they have like two good songs. I feel like they're way overhyped. I remember learning about them on 4chan back when Act 2 was fresh. The band never left a lasting impression on me.
