>Rock 'n' Roll Racing>Ammo upgrades really expensive>Best to save for a car upgrade + using excess of money for speed/jumping/armor>Early strategy boils down to basically collecting money and glitching AI in bridge-jumps races to get that sweet lapping bonus>Mid-game you just breeze through the competition anyway>Late game, even a full barrage of shots won't destroy a single car, so it's more of the same>It's all about avoiding those reverse arrows>game's done, there's very little fighting and a lot of evasion.I still like it, but damn it's a letdown...What a shame.
i hated the hovercraft so the tank tread thing was always my final vehicle
>>12508968The only advantage over is a lack of springs, so every jump transfers perfectly. However, at (i think) 3/4 spring upgrade, this doesn't matter anyway.
the whole "rock n roll" angle was kind of at odds with the whole interplanetary theme. like they just shoehorned their licensed tracks into a game where more futuristic music wouldve made more sense.
>>12508968I'm Russian and this game used to be EXTREMELY popular in Russia (and I guess other ex-Soviet countries), to the point that there's a whole bunch of ROM hacks and fan-games (e.g. Motor Rock).Megadrive consoles were very big in Russia and I guess this was one of the nicer looking racing games with a cool and edgy aesthetic hence this lasting influence, but idk, not an expert on the matter.
>>12508995Just looked that up. Is it good?Megadrive was also really popular in south america. I think they still re-release it as dollar-store goodies
enemies have the same ammo and armor count as you, so if you don't buy armor you can kill them easier
>>12509029I didn't know that. I'll test it in my next run.Why does the AI seem a bit faster than i am on warrior difficulty? Is it to compensate the fact they can't corner for shit?
for me, it's the Air Blade

>>12509060I remember when the Air Blade was named Marauder, Dirt Devil was Commando and Dirt Marauder was Dirt Devil
>>12508968Phantasy Star IIIThe generation system with branching story depending on which wife you choose is cool, the setting is cool, even the magic system where you choose how to balance power of different spell types is cool. But the entire game feels pretty barebones and sloppy. It even applies to the music, where some of the compositions are really nice, but the sounds chosen feel wrong.
