So I noticed that there is a resolution option for the "native" resolution but I can't find anything definitive about why it's not used by default? Shouldn't it be the best, it's native so it's the default that's warped by a TV into 4:3 or 16:9 right? Is there any reason to not do native? Does it not scale as well or something?
>>12512308Native 4:3 with a simple scanline shader is the way.
>>12512327You really think the scan line shader adds a lot? Does it help with some graphics?
>>12512358NTA, it doesn't do "a lot", but it helps to fluff up those pixels. The offset is it will look darker than usual, so be sure to pick the right filters for your monitor's screen type.
>>12512327Dont use scanline shaders for 480i content. They would be barely visible at all on a crt depending on your sharpness.
>>125123084:3 for 99.9% of games.10:7 was added into PCSX2 as an option to accomodate specific games, like Disgaea.
>>12512358you don't need a shader for ps2. just upscale to your monitor's native resolution.
>>12513198But then low rez hud elements look like shit.
>>12513082I'd love to see a native resolution purist deal with Resident Evil 2 N64
>>12512592>on a crtthe point is to not need that
>>12512308I just use a widescreen patch whenever I can.
You reminded me of this so I'm posting ithttps://www.psdevwiki.com/ps2/Games_With_Alternative_Display_Modes
i played jak and daxter yesterday for the first time. was surprised that an early ps2 game had 16:9
always original everything only 1 good filter for the screen and 3x resolution Home improvement show sucked because they all turned into shiddy people that hate Europeans later
