It's not really a port, it's its own separate game. I shouldn't have posted this, I'm sorry.

Contra for the MSX, they shouldn't have bothered.
>>
>>12512901
I'm actually surprised it got quite a few console ports despite being a PC FPS.
>>
>>12512926
forgot to mention the Dreamcast port notoriously had awful fucking controls, you had to press a button on the controller to use the 2nd set of controls, it was weird.

That was the only port, the Dreamcast one was never officially released, just leaked.

I'll count it despite being unreleased since it was esstentially completed.

wholesome thread, good concept. make more like these, where we can take a breather from arguing, defending shit games etc.

Its really fucked up on 360 bc
>>
>>12512923
this game is awesome
>>
>>12512935
This one is pretty bad, the best port is whichever has the extended versions of the OG cutscenes

It's weird in the sense that they felt Final Fight needed redbook audio and voice acting.

Any contemporary official port to systems that use graphic characters at most. Many people in many suits looked at this and all, very correctly, said it should be released for the tens of MZ-700 users.
>>

>>12513309
And they deemed it an utmost necessity to include PCG (Programmable Character Generator) support for the 7 MZ-700 users who owned one.
>>
>>12512565
Explain. How is this remotely a weird port at all? It wasn't the first console port of a Valve/Half Life game and it wasn't the last.
>>
PC port of KUF:Crusaders and Heroes, that came out in 2020.

Retro because originals came out 2004/5. On xbox. I mean, for what were they thinking why?

I can't speak fοr how it plays on real hardware but it was broken on emulation because there's supposed to be a forcefield in the first area thats just straight up invisible in this version.
>>
>>12513357
The original version is also comically bad.
>>
>>12513361
Not the point, porch monkey.
>>
>>12513382
Please, I'm typing this from my desk in just my underwear. My porch is a staircase and a small landing platform, no room to sit and post from. Plus there's a bee thats been hanging at my front door the past few days and I'd rather not bother him out of respect (I'm not afraid, just thought I'd let you know that.)
>>
>>12513396
>>12513361
>>
>>12513402
I was talking about the 64 version, I can see how you made that mistake. Like the bee at my front porch (I am not afraid, really I mean it) I'm moving through briskly so as not to disturb.
>>
>>12513319
my guess is that it was some shitty bait, but nobody fell for it, and the thread actually turned out fine.

Not sure what qualifies as a "weird" port to you guys, the Hueg had tons of PC ports of questionable performance.
I suppose GC RE2 isnt too weird but it was kind of random that they put every RE on there right after it had been a PSX franchise.
Xbox port of MGS2 is just weird, without the pressure sensitive buttons especially.
>>
>>12513541
The Kotor games were Xbox-first releases that later were ported to PC.
>>
>>12513553
Timed exclusives don't count, there's a reason they didn't slap an Only on XBOX logo on.
>>
>>12512928
>you had to press a button on the controller to use the 2nd set of controls
Actually weirdly ahead of it's time. Modifiers are commonplace in modern remappers like Steam Input to cram more functions onto the limited buttons on a gamepad.
I wish every console game had fully rebindable controls including at least one modifier layer.
>>
>>12513587
Each to their own, but in a game like half-life where you don't get a lot of time to quickly rebind your controls for every situation it kills the pacing.
>>
What the fuck
>>
>>12513639
Don't get me wrong, the Dreamcast controls for Half-Life are ass, but modifiers are genuinely a good idea and they work well even in fast-paced games. I play modern Quake mods on hard just fine with weapon binds on the face buttons behind LB as a modifier for example.

I know it's only weird in hindsight, but I still find it mind-boggling that Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Mario Bros. got official ports for the ColecoVision, Intellivision, and various Atari platforms.

sega cd flashback is the only version with background music. other than that (and the cutscenes) i'm pretty sure it's identical to the genesis version, which was the main platform.

RE2 and 3 on GC makes perfect sense considering REmake, 0, and 4 were GC exclusives. 2 and 3 should've been bundled together but Capcom is well known for being done if the biggest Jews in the Jap gaming industry.
>>
>>12513842
I wonder how involved Romero was in the development of this port.
>>
>>12513541
OG XBox had pressure sensitive buttons. Did Konami just fail to port it properly?
>>
>>12512582
That looks comfy as heck once you swap out the windows palette
>>
>>12513541
What the fuck are you talking about, xbox has pressure buttons and they work fine on mgs2. Boot up DOAX and you literally get an option whether you want analog or digital inputs.

This piece of shit was a strange one.
They lost the source code and rebuilt the whole thing in a comically halfassed way.
>>12513541
MGS2 on the Xbox was odd. It played fine but I think it was the only way to get all of the wacky Substance extras.
>>

What's stranger is there were ports of Sega games on rival consoles while the Master System was already out.
>>
>>12512565
My copy of HL2 doesn't work on my Xbox but it does work on my 360, and I've been wanting to play it on my 360 now just because it might basically be the worst official way possible to play the game.
>>
>>12514564
I played it high as balls on my friend's 360 and didn't notice any problems but the fast zombies startled me shitless.

>>
>>12514245
No. The pressure-sensitive buttons work fine in the Xbox port. He just didn't know that because he buys games to post pictures of them on the internet, not to actually play them.
>>
>>12512565
it's REALLY REALLY weird seeing a rated M game on a Gamecube ngl
>>
>>12515140
Eh, not really. There was Eternal Darkness, Geist and MGS: The Twin Snakes.
It was also the original home of REmake, Killer7, and RE4.
>>
>>12515173
side question from a different anon, why did the Gamecube get two remakes of two iconic PSX games (RE1 and MGS)? It's funny how REmake is (arguably) better than the original, but Twin Snakes is decidedly worse than the original
>>
>>
>>12512901
Absolutely could not run on PS1 in any conceivable form

It's really odd to see a Japanese-only PC port of a western game, especially one that didn't catch on there at all.
>>
>>12515249
This is unironically my favorite version of classic RE1.
>>
>>12516339
because of Jill's increased ass size, right?
>>
>>12514112
Romero requested the developers that they make a Zelda style game instead of some action shooter
>>
>>12516061
It's technically impressive for the hardware, but still the worst version of the game by a mile and only a few years removed from the PSP port, which is still the definitive release of Alpha 3 to this day.
>>
>>12516061

>>
>>12515349
Microsoft was paying devs to do something to make their ports "better" somehow, which had the benefit of beefing the early catalog with games from just a year or two earlier. That's why there was stuff like THPS2X, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, and some of the Konami games (didn't MGS2 Substance come out for Xbox before PS2 as a timed exclusive?).
>>
