Some youtuber lolcow was angry that Edia didn't pay Working Designs for the privilege of licensing their translations for the (unfinished, unreleased, not working) Cosmic Fantasy 1 and the (buggy, unbalanced difficulty) Cosmic Fantasy 2 English versions.Edia kept the Japanese voice acting (a huge fan demand for PC Engine enthusiasts), used overlays for the translation and actually took their time and translated the whole series from 1 to 4 using professional translators with social media presence, and the translation is of a similar quality to their earlier work with the Valis series (where the PC Engine games were previously partially localized by NEC with some horrendous dubs, so they just redid them and removed all third party logos from the games to reduce licensing complications)So those Valis compilations came and went with no drama, but then Working Designs and its cheerleader team had some fit how Sega was too cheap to pay them for Lunar on the Sega Mini or entertain their "enhanced rebalance/retranslation/rework/outtakes" and just disabled the games for English regions, and then they discovered that Edia commissioned Cosmic Fantasy localizations from elsewhere, so they started defaming those localizations AND the Valis collections as "AI/MTL translations", using some screenshots of SD Valis and Valis 1 on the Mega Drive from that collection's English soft subtitle option... but these turned out to be 1:1 reproductions of Sega/Renovation's official English localizations which were NOT held for ransom behind some licensing royalties nightmare, and Edia saw no harm in using them as the original IP owner owned that English text as well.>and buggy as hellHere's an actual screenshot of the version that astroturfing campain wanted them to use. >>12514815I don't know about shitty e-celeb rama but In cosmic fantasy 1 the text you get when dealing and receiving damage from normal attacks is reversed: when it says "Yu attacks monster for 80 damage" it actually means that the "Monster attacked Yu for 80 damage", same applies for your attacks. Actual unplayable garbage, you'd knew this if you actually played the collection.
