I just realized that the Super Mario RPG remake qualifies as retro because it preserves the original’s design ethos so faithfully that it plays like a perfectly refined time capsule, not a modern remake slop.
insanely tight jRPG short punchy no filler constant momentum quick timed hits fluid exploration combat flow never static remake sharpens everything into pure action game pacing, why didn't more retro rpgs do this???

The remake is good, but I feel like the splash damage from regular attacks makes special attacks feel useless most of the time, so the battles felt a bit blander. Otherwise it was a really nice remake, I enjoyed the extras at the end and wish there was more.

the demake was soulless trash like usual and you should be ashamed of yourself
