I would like to replay the first generation of Pokemon after several years do you think the original versions of Pokemon Blue and Red have aged well? or should i go with Fire Red and Leaf Green? honestly i prefer to play the original Pokemon Blue i have more nostalgia for that version
Definitely "should" go with the GBA versions for the various small improvements but the difference is not so great that if you should avoid playing the originals. Running shoes is the biggest difference for me.Yellow is also an option too. Just close enough to be nostalgic but different enough to be interesting.
>>12515468>I would like to replay the first generation of Pokemonif that were true then you'd just play the game instead of seeking validation by announcing that you *want* to
I like playing them on super gameboy for the colors. (Personality use a mister 4 this)
>>12515560This. If he was genuinely interested and didn't have the mentality of a child he would just replay it and see if he thinks they still hold up. Almost certainly he has no interest in replaying it at all, but he wants to see people shit post back and forth to watch a meta discussion of what people think about the remakes.
>>12515468>do you think the original versions of Pokemon Blue and Red have aged well?yes, they're excellent games and the jankiness makes them even more fun as you can easily break the game to your advantage, such as walking through walls before the first gym and 'starting' your adventure in Celadon with a lvl 25 Eevee for example.>or should i go with Fire Red and Leaf Green?FrLg are good but not the same as the originals, and I feel they miss out a little bit of the charm of the originals and replaces it with a charm of its own. Play either imo, FrLg won't break your game for example, and you can find many more romhacks for FrLg if that's your fancyalso:>>>/vp/ faggot
>>12515560Yeah tbf these games are sub 1MB. In the time it took to check this thread you could have downloaded and started playing.

I grew up on FRLG but I like Red and Blue better
>>12515468>do you think the original versions of Pokemon Blue and Red have aged well?I think so. Replaying it recently made me REALLY miss the run button and the sorted inventory from later games, those were objective improvements, but I still think the originals are good and well designed entrylevel JRPGs.A solid and well thought out game with lots of hours of play, combined with a good gimmick, a fairly low cost of entry, all with genius marketing and tie in products? It's no wonder it sold as well as it did. It's a shame that it became so successful that they've just stopped trying though.>>12515560I'm assuming he wants an excuse to have a conversation about them.>>12515654Agree on FrLg. I like that game a lot too since RSY was my favorite as a kid, but the originals have this special feel to them because they hadn't refined and polished everything yet. There's a light bit of visual and atmospheric grit that I like about them.
>>12515468Games don't age so play whatever you want. It sounds like you already want to play Blue, so do it.
>>12515580And thats bad why?
>>12515468>do you think the original versions of Pokemon Blue and Red have aged well?Personally, I don't think they have. I played Pokemon Red for the first time about 10 years ago, so I have no nostalgia for the Gen 1 titles. Red and Blue aren't bad games, but they're also not great. There just isn't much to do except collect the badges, beat the Elite 4 and do a few fetch quests here and there. FRLG did a hell of a lot to improve on Red and Blue. That being said, the glitches are a lot of fun. I like cloning my starter right at the beginning to get all 3 starters before even leaving Pallet town. That's one thing you certainly can't do in FRLG...
>>12516417>I'm assuming he wants an excuse to have a conversation about them.he hasn't posted in the thread since he made itit's just more redditmon spam
Any pokemon game before the split is pure shit.
>>12515468Go with the originals. The GBA games have aged far worse.
I've been recently playing Pokemon Red in the style of an idiot child and think it's funny how much you really can face tank the entire game with your starter. I don't think I've defeated a single mon with anything but my starter. I slashed Misty to death with Charmeleon.
>>12515580Do you know where you are?
>>12517963Can confirm that this is possible, it's basically how I did it as a little kid back when it was brand new. Makes it a lot harder than it needs to be for Elite 4, but still doable.Playing later though, I always got immense pleasure from turning that 500p Magikarp into a Gyarados death machine, he's so reliable once you finally get him evolved.>>12517958Fuck you and fuck your mom.
RBY has the soul thing going for it but the AI is atrocious, which is why you can beat it very easily using the worst of the worst pokemon. FRLG has abilities and natures and special split so it's not quite the same experience. Also feels a bit slow for modern standards and I'm not a fan of using fast forward
>>12519492>I always got immense pleasure from turning that 500p Magikarp into a Gyarados death machine, he's so reliable once you finally get him evolved.Every playthrough I get the magikarp before mt moon and have it as my starter each battle then swap it out immediately so it gains exp every battle until lvl 20.
>>12517963Honestly you can beat all Pokemon games with using only your starter Pokemon the fun of Pokemon is trying to build the best team to be competitive and play against others remember the Game Boy Link existed so you could play with others or for to trade Pokemon
>>12515468Well the remakes are better since added content plus fixed issues so is a much better experience, same applies to gold and silver the remake is better.Well the original is shorter and buggy as hell but if you want that you could play it .
>>12519758>the original is shorter and buggywhat bugs would a normal player even encounter without trying?
>>12519758they removed some soul and the music sounds better on the original, especially for gold, but the gameplay is better on the remake, I pick the original if I had to
>>12519814The average playthrough will run into the 1/256 miss chance on normally full accurate moves, enemy mons debuffing themselves with focus energy, an incorrect super/not effective callout on some type combinations, maybe lance or some other "smart" AI spamming a status move because of type matchups. None of the bugs most normal people will run into matter and could easily go unnoticed.
