I have a hard time reconciling with the black bars on the sides on this setup.
It's standard definition and it's on s-video here. It has component as well.
I'll post more pics.

surely that kind of setup you use for planing games with a wider aspect ratio
and buy a secondary tube for 4:3, 5:4, etc...
>>
>>12517927
>and buy a secondary tube for 4:3, 5:4, etc
I can't justify it
Hopefully in another life

Are those vertical scanlines?

Looks disgusting
>>
>>12517943
I'm not sure. Perhaps a camera artifact?
I don't even know if vertical scanlines exist
>>
>>12517893
I wouldn't care as long as the aspect ratio is correct and nothing is cut off. Just think of the black bars as part of the tv.
>>
>>12517950
It's the photo. Goes away when you zoom in.
>>
>>12517943
It looks like 480i, that's why it looks wonky, that's my guess. Whatever anon uses doesn't output 240p if it's the case. Too many people get a CRT, hook their computer to it and think they're automatically ready for da cee are tee expoorience.

Looks like 240p to me.

Attach miniature theater curtains to it to cover the sides

You've just gotta get over it, there's no other answer. While I don't give a shit about black bars for 4:3 content, I have diagnosed OCD and I know what its like to sperg over meaningless, minute gaming bullshit. No one on this retarded website is gonna say anything helpful because this "problem" is entirely unsolvable and exists purely inside your mind. No one has any magic words which will sooth your anti-pillarboxing autism. The more you try to fix it, the worse you'll make it. You've just gotta get over it and enjoy your games.

Plug a PS3 into it and play TLOU or something, there's not enough widescreen retro vidya for a 16:9 CRT to be worth it.
>>
>>12518896
Now you can play SMB3 the devs intended

Op throw that shit in the trash and get a real tv

People complaining about "black bars" drives me fucking insane. There are no black bars. Not everything needs to fill the screen. Most shit you look at on your phone doesn't perfectly fill the screen either; why are you specifically bothered by this?
You're the reason for that blurred shit they put on the sides of videos that use a narrow aspect ratio.

what a strange thing to be annoyed by

You can't ignore the black bars. the contrast between the image and the unused space is inmediately apparent.
On a traditional 4:3 tv, the image is framed by the plastic edges of the screen. This makes it more immersive because it's properly contained within it's frame. When you play 2D games with backgrounds that are meant to feel larger than the screen, black bars make it seem like the scenery is being abruptly cut off.
>>
>>12517893

I didn't know that SD wide 4:3 tvs existed. How pointless

>>12518896

lol
>>
>>12517893
Widescreen SD CRTs are neat for DVDs or a Wii. For everything else it's an awkward in-between.
PS3/360 and up just look better on an HDTV and 5th gen had like, maybe 5 games with widescreen modes. 6th gen is right in the middle with plenty of games with widescreen modes but plenty others without.
>>
>>12519520
480p capable widescreen CRT was so nice for Wii, shit looked great
>>
>>12519346
>You can't ignore the black bars.
The black bars are in your head. There is unused screen space, TV bezel, and all the space around the TV still within your peripheral vision that all don't contain the game image. If you turn the light off and play in a pitch black room, do you complain about about all the black space all around the image?

Yes. I may show you a pic here of the tv in the dark, but you should know that camera lenses and your eyes work differently.
The light emitted by the tv does illuminate your surroundings, bouncing at the tv itself and shedding a light to the front of it which makes the plastic edges and the black bars apparent.
>>
>>12518896
legitimately perfect

Just stretch
>>
>>12519346
If you can't ignore them then you're playing a bad game.

Imagine playing Resident Evil 4 HD Project on a CRT TV
>>
>>12519717
It's the ps3 version, check the filename. It was the last version to have the original GameCube textures.
>>
>>12519861
No I was being serious, I would like to see someone play RE4HD project on a CRT
>>

Oh yeah that would be interesting to see.

Many such cases. Have you talked to a mental health professional about these problems?
