I didnt know the point of the Pokemon Stadium games was that you had to use your team from Pokemon Red and Blue and transfer them to play in these Stadium games no wonder beating the castles was extremely difficult somehow i managed to finish both Stadium games using the Pokemon i rented from the game

It was advertised with that, and even gave you that GB Transfer pack.. it gave you everything you needed to play RBY (minus the games yourself) even if you didn't have a Gameboy. We used like some program to edit a game boy emulator save file of Red and Blue to give ourselves any pokemon we liked. And the cup battles have a surprising amount of strategy involved with them, definitely intended for transfer Pokemon. Another thing I like about these games is the gifts you get to transfer over as well as being able to use them as Pokemon storage. If the battery on your gameboy game runs out you can replace it and transfer them back.

For the longest time I thought Crystal wasn't compatible with Pokemon Stadium 2 because my 5 year old self had already tried connecting it with 1, I got Stadium 2 later and assumed it only worked for Gold and Silver probably because I had the same issue you had and I just didn't try to connect it enough times. Fast forward 10 years later, finally get it to work and I was overjoyed to finally unlock a bunch of new content.
