Have."Did it have ray tracing", my ESL anon.
>see a programming trick to mimic realism in a video game>ZOMG DID THE PEE ES DOUBLE HAD GAY TRACING TWENTY YEARS BEFORE EVERYONE DID?!?!>Arjun Krishna LalDo saars really?
>>12519867Trying my best to communicate with my fellow vr buddies>>12519870Then why RTX is a thing? Like, PS2 can do that
>>12519862>RetroArch Screenshotgo back to /v/
>>12519862Yes. We lost the technology, we literally had to reinvent it for RTX and it's still not as good. Many such cases!
>>12519905"Is" goes before the noun."Then why is RTX a thing?" is how you say it.
>>12519905the answer is scale. it's one thing to specifically have a mirror floor in one room give off reflections, it's another to have every material in the game past a certain reflective threshold give off a mirror image.
>>12519862First, almost everything can do raytracing, even a speccy. A different matter is the speed & the complexity of the scene.Second, your pic is a run of the mill stenciled reflection, trivial to do in a forward renderer, you just rasterize the scene again with a mirrored camera.PS: Cool DOS raytraced 64k introhttps://youtu.be/rNqpD3Mg9hY
>>12519862early 1990s 3D games had "raytracing" already. they were not realtime and some had no textures on the polygons at all.
>>12519862>broken english>dumb fucking question>click linknever fails
>>12520468>Cool DOS raytraced 64k introthat's just a FMV. AFAIK homebrew devs did raytraced demos for various consoles.
>>12520471did he also write the netbookist games blog?
>>12520479>FMVfor fucks sake, you can download & run the 64k exe yourselfhttps://files.scene.org/view/parties/2000/mekkasymposium00/in64/h7-final.zip
>>12520489yeah its a fmv compressed into 64k
>>12520493sure, a fmv where you can select the resolution and raytracing sampling rate at startup...the stupidity of this board knows no bounds
>>12520420Anon, the emulator didn't make up those reflections
>>12519862Why the hell would you mod Bloodrayne only to play as a man?
>>12519862Literally any general purpose computer can do ray tracing to some degree. Non-stochastic ray tracing is not even that expensive. There is nothing overly impressive about a simple ray traced demo with a single sphere primitive.
Another awful thread.
>>12519862What kind of brown are you?
>>12521143Guatemalan and proud puto
>>12519905>Then why RTX is a thing?RTX isn't ray tracing its just a brand of graphics cards. Its like your mom calling all video games a Nintendo.
>>12519862God of War is such a technical masterpiece, I can’t imagine a GameCube ever running anything like it.Sony really knocked it out of the park with the Emotion Engine.
>>12519862Is vertex tracing and quite shitty, almost every nintendo console had that since n64.
>>12521669why does being a puto make you proud?
The PS2 has the Soul Tracing™ technology thanks to its unique hardware architecture.
>>12522574It looks so ethereal and magical, like something out of a dream.
>>12519862The amiga could do "ray tracing". Ray tracing is a lighting model described in math in the 60s.
it's called mirroring the scene across the floor and rendering everything twice, oldest trick in the book, even dos games did this
>>12522576yeah, the needs more mpeg compression artifacts and the watermark really bring out the sovl
