you can't communicate with any of the characters, save for some scripted sequences in which the toads and then the <spoilers> talk to you
your only mode of interaction with the world is, seemingly, jumping. you jump on things, you jump up at things. that's it
oh, there's a flower power that lets you awkwardly lob fireballs, I guess. yeah. cool. bad shooting mechanics. I'd rather play a competent shooter for that
