Game Gear came out in '90 / '91.It had a color screen and had games equivalent to (ports of) the home consoles that were just ending.We only had one TV. I wasn't allowed to play games on school days and on weekend nights family was usually watching movies / TV. But I could plug in the game gear and stay up all night playing games under my blanket fort.

And was 160 × 144 with color 8-9 years before the game boy. The thing is even backlit! >>12524035Honestly, I bought a PcEngine for Neutopia and was massively disapoointed. Haven't tried 2 yet but the first one really had that 80s japanese PC lack of quality to it. Golden Axe Warrior, on the other hand, I find to be the best Zelda 1 style game, with awesome exploration.
