>>12524381this one time like 5 years ago i was on a forum and we got to "NIGGE" but then someone fucked it up by absent-mindedly replying to some other post. to this day it makes me seethe since i haven't once seen a completed chain
>>12524482I have seen a chain get completed in the wild exactly once. I started one in narcissa wright's youtube chat one time during a raid and so few ppl were typing in her chat that it actually worked kek. Good times.
>>12524518N
>>12524320So true, I remember a time before you could walk up to the local bob-ombs and they wouldn't reply "yipyipyipyeyIIIIIIP-yipyip"

>>12524942This is it....the game that invented lock on*.....Where would we be today without that?
>>12524964this but unironically
>>12524972Lockon was available in Star Fox 64 and that came out before OoT
>>12524320dunno about that but just finished 120 stars and am 90% through Banjo-Kazooie and I'm a lot hotter for Mario 64
So you're telling me that Mario 64 is responsible for modern degeneracy and the decline of western civilization?
>>12524320>This game changed society.it shouldve, but it didnt. we all thought this was the dawn of a new age of 3d platformers. little did we know that this was already the peak, and there was nowhere to go but down.
>>12524320Stupid thread, but I do wonder what games can actually claim to have changed society in some form or another. I'd say Doom or Mortal Kombat, but whatever changes they made were just an extension of the "think of the children" stuff.
>>12524964>maybe if i strawman, everybody will agree with meit's okay to admit you're coping that oot revolutionised 3D games entirely.
>>12525281WHAT THE FUCK

>>12525354>Mario is Jewish>Wario isn't
playing it again after ragequitting on the ds version for the controlsit's strangely addicting, I suck but I find it more deep than galaxy and 3d land, the only other 3d mario I playedI'm also finishing replaying spyro trilogy (just 2 left to 100%) and was a giant crash fag when I was a kid but I had to admit I totally fucked up ignoring mario, it's clearly a better platformer
>>12525451Imma wario, numbah one!
>>12524937Ok, """""""""""""""""""HENRRY"""""”"""""""""”"""
>>12524518>narcissa wrightBack in my day we called him Cosmo>tfw watched him get his gender identity shattered live οn air at the Nintendo World Championship by JOHN FUCKING NUMBERSSimpler times. Better times.

>>12525354This explains so much about Nintendo
Nobody played that shit here in europe.
>>12525336I think only Mortal Kombat actually changed society, since it was what started the push for more violence and explicit imagery in video game media so it was quite big.

Mario 64 did just ok, its actual sales numbers are skewed as it was the primary bundled game for a long time before mario kart replaced it. It came out among a flood of 3D platformers and it was the "least terrible" of them, but people still bitched about the camera and all other flaws that come with 3d platformers. To this day its not even a top 5 mario title. Doom and gta 3 (and PS2 trilogy overall) had by far a larger impact on society and gamer culture. Not just sales but by becoming the defining games of their genre. Doom speaks for itself, and GtA 3/VC/SA were not the first sandbox games, but they are the game that moved open world gaming from a niche genre into the industry standard, it was the game that sold 20 million PS2 consoles by itself despite not being a bundled game. For the next 20 years the entire game industry has been chasing GTA. Shenmue did a lot of things first, but sadly only 8 people played it because it wasnt cool and it was on abondoned hardware. GTA made it "cool" to be a gamer for the first time in a very long time. I worked in R&D on an engineering team, and it was the first time I ever had co-workers in their 30s at the water cooler openly talking about video games. >see a ramp, take a ramp!>even on a mission?>especially on a mission!>how did that work out?>WASTED!>everyone laughs
>>12528878Sorry I guess france and some other PAL bundles existed in europe for some of the GTA games. I stand corrected.
