The first four main-line 2D ones. I'm sure all the others are fine, Nintendo and Capcom are good at making games and all, but I don't really care about the series Zelda became after those early games. Adding a third dimension muddles everything and waters it down, unless you fundamentally change the design of the games which they don't seem to have done in most cases, although I gather there's some weird stuff going on in some of the DS games and maybe a full reinvention of the series on the Switch, but I can't care about those games either because I haven't tried them. And on top of that the awful aesthetic designs the series veered into for absolutely no reason are just revolting to me. Disgusting-looking characters, creepy-cute garbage everywhere, god just give me back my cool elf guy fighting conventionally scary-looking monsters please.

I am a huge Zelda fan but I hate every Zelda game except for BotW and TotK. The NES games have the correct feel but are far too cryptic while are the others are too linear and aren't really Zelda at their core.

At its core The Legend of Zelda is about exploration and adventure which really resonates with me. BotW was the first game in the series to live up to that premise. There is no reason to go back to any of the inferior games in the series now that Nintendo has perfected the formula.
