Why is Zelda 2 so fun to replay? I love games with happy endings.
>>12525119I too love happy endings
>>12525119Fucking based OP, zelda 2 is my favorite 2D classic zelda ever made. Just pure kino from start to end, truly feels like a fantasy adventure.
What is that thing? A bird?
The tears οf metroidfags were delicious when Koji Igarashi said his Castlevania games were inspired by Zelda instead of their literally who dead series.
>>12525668The classic Japanese tale of saying tangentially similar property was their main inspiration, and not the obvious thing to which their creation is extremely similar.
>>12525680>i know what the creator's inspirations were better than the creator!just stop man
>>12525229It's a webm
This is Kassfag isnt it
>>12525668The same Koji Igarashi who said his Castlevania games were directly inpspired by Super Metroid?
>>12525119>>12525136Zelda II fucking sucks>jarpiggy grinding crap in an action game>this jarpiggy grinding crap leads to MASSIVE power differences>where just a couple levels (few minutes of grinding) makes you literally TWICE as strong>instead of actually adventuring and finding gear that gives you a satisfying power increase, you.... just farm the same trashmob 200x and congrats you got the master sword now!!!>trashmobs can take 10+ hits to die and one shot you, or die in one hit and need 10+ hits to kill you purely depending on your jarpiggy grinding level>shitty, broken hitboxes for numerous enemies>tiny little dagger sword that jabs 3 inches in front of Link>combat is massively dumbed down as you only have left/right to move instead of all four directions, and most fights are now just 1v1 instead of vs multiple enemies; nothing better exemplifies this than the shitty final boss where you sit in a corner the whole time>downward stab attack is insanely OP against every enemy it works against (or you can just jump right past them)>magic system that encourages just ignoring enemies>generic recolored dungeons Zelda 2's combat is fucking shit and you're an absolute fucking retard. It's a downgrade in every way from Zelda 1 and ALTTP is the true sequel to Zelda 1.Jarpiggy crap has no place in an action game, and even by jarpiggy standards, it's embarrassingly balanced and extremely poorly implemented
>>12525738>trashmobMuch like "boomer" "millennial" etc., this term marks a post as being safe to skip
>>12525957Autism speaks
>>12525668This, I'm not even that much of a castlevaniafag but SotN and AoS reminded me way more of how link controls in Z2 than any metronid game
>>12525229It's Kassfag putting their "husbando" in the game. They even put their own oc as the princess.https://x.com/KassLover1/status/2047054013225664864Normally I wouldn't be bothered by them but they're a cunt
>>12525708>I can conjecture something which is more likely than public statementsSeems simple enough
>>12525119I own the gba port of this game, I've tried it as a kid and never got far because I sucked ass, should I give it another go?
>>12526281If you want, yes. If you don't, no. It is a good game though. You probably should play the NES one.
>>12525119Because it was directed by Tadashi Sugiyama, who directed some of Nintendo's best games:- Zelda 2- Pilotwings- Super Mario Kart (co-directed with Hideki Konno)- F-Zero X
>>12525738>I suck at the game>I don't know how an RPG works>that's a good thing>you need all the magic to complete the game lol>I don't know how an RPG works>not true>get good>it's a sidescroller, what do you expect?>it's a late game ability, so no shit>yeah, pick your battle, that's how an RPG works>it's a game from 1986such zoomie complaints and I say that as a zoomer, this game was awesome for its time and you have clearly no idea how a game like it works.
>>12526287>pilotwings >the worst Mario kart>F-Zero not as good as GXI like Zelda 2 but this is a pretty mid resume
>>12526302GX is not that great a game. The original F-Zero and X are pretty close. I'd give it to X though. But you can see the genius of Sugiyama's world creation by deciding he wanted 30 simultaneous racers at 60fps and he wanted each racer to have their own design, backstory and unique machine (and he also added the mechanic of knocking other racers off the track). It reminds me of Zelda 2 with the unique villages, in a way. Pilotwings is one of Nintendo's best games, you should play it properly. He succeeded in making hang gliding both relaxing and terrifying. The world creation is there with the instructors, which gets completely recontextualised in the final level. SMK is one of the best Mario karts, better than Mario Kart 64 and Double Dash, at least. It had much more technical mechanics and was genuinely hard. MK64 is much slower, much wider tracks, less challenging. I mean, adding guardrails to Rainbow Road, seriously? If you think about it, he did a lot with Zelda 2. Added a lot of mechanics with the swordplay and created much more of a world with villages, NPCs, etc.
>>12526301RPGs are good because of their story, characters, writing, exploration, quest design, interactivity, reactivity, build variety, replayability, player agency and choice. Zelda II has literally none of that, it's just a shitty jarpiggy grinding game that has one of the most lazily implemented and poorly balanced leveling systems that just encourages powerfarming trashmobs and counterintuitively skipping dungeon crystals until the end of the game. It adds absolutely nothing to the game except tedium and frustration.Dismissing all of the combat complaints under the guise of >"w-w-well it's an RPG, it's supposed to be shitty!!" is just fucking delusion when the game has zero of the advantages of an RPG but all the drawbacks. Also downward thrust is not a late game ability at all, what the fuck are you even talking about? Did you even play the fucking game? You can unlock it like a quarter way through. And yes, we can tell you're a retarded ass zoomer larping, it's quite obvious. Now go back to your NSO and play the entire game glued to a walk-through and spamming rewind constantly like the good little braindead shitstain zoomer that you are.
>>12526302The first Mario Kart is the only one that even has a reason to exist.>>12526301>>12526338>YOU'RE young no YOU'RE youngyou are off topic this isn't /epictrollslapfights/
>>12526362>No argumentI accept your concession.>>12526338You still haven't addressed any of my rebutals besides crying about the definition of an RPG, it must suck to be this butthurt though I happily accept your concession
>>12526404>rebutals
>>12526510>y-you forgot the extra t!! u-uhh y-youre a non-white!!!proving my point you have no real argument.PS: i'm whiter than you, amerimutt
>>12526224But Zelda II is good while Aria sucks as an action game. Also much of Aria is because of Curry.
>>12526404One word shitpost responses are not an argument. You could start by actually addressing the numerous points made in my two posts, by actually playing the game to know Downward Thrust is acquired early in the game not late, and to actually play without a guide, save states, and rewind spam like the retarded zoomer you are (especially if you're going to try to talk about difficulty after doing that)
>>12525119I grew up with Zelda 2. Don't ask me anything.
>>12525738>It's a downgrade in every way from Zelda 1 and ALTTP is the true sequel to Zelda 1.He doesn't know
>>12526734the kid comes across like he got bullied at the schoolyard for having videogame strategy guides
>>12526324Took the words out of my mouth, king.
>>12525119Because the combat in this game is among the more compelling I've seen out of the franchise. I'd venture to say the most satisfying because the hitting and dodging mechanics work so well for a side scroller.
>>12526757Seriously? The combat fucking sucks. >obnoxious, unbalanced jarpiggy grinding crap>enemies can be huge damage sponges if underleveled>your main attack is a wimpy, unsatisfying limp noodle that only reaches a few inches in front of you>pogo attack is incredibly OP and almost always the best strat if it works on an enemy>tons of broken and inaccurate hitboxes>can only ever fight one enemy at a time and the environment is rarely a consideration in combat>can just jump past most enemies>magic costs way too much, making the fairy magic the most efficient by far, encouraging you to just bypass entire areas of the dungeons, ignoring all enemies, hazards, and platforming >final boss sums up the shit combat system: best strat is to just sit in a corner and mash attack lmao
>>12526757>interactivity, reactivityI know, right. It's pretty much the peak of what the NES (or any older console for that matter) offers for sidescrolling combat, and the fact that it has a fully explorable world instead of being a short and linear gauntlet of levels just makes it so much more compelling.
>>12526804>pogo attack is incredibly OP and almost always the best strat if it works on an enemyExcept most enemies were helmets or are otherwise immune, so you're still SOL.
>>12526757It's the sole reason the game is bad. The combat does not fucking work.
>>12526805Best on the system? It's not even better than its predecessor.Zelda 1, Contra, Mega Man, Castlevania, Jackal, Little Samson, Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, Mitsume Ga Tooru, Shatterhand, Kirby's Adventure, TMNT, Gun.Smoke, Metroid, Blaster Master, Bionic Commando, Ducktales, Rescue Ranger, Mr. Gimmick, etc. are all better It's bested by basically all but the most kusoge shovelware
>>12526804>your main attack is a wimpy, unsatisfying limp noodle that only reaches a few inches in front of youthat's fine it's your opinion but your limp noodle is to me, my precision pixel striker.
>>12526813Sure, intimidating to newcomers, as the skill ceiling is quite high. But once you master the mechanics, you can enjoy the game the way Nintendo intended.
>>12526826It's the complete opposite, the "challenge" is almost entirely the obtuse progression and being underleveled. The combat is unforgiving with a moderately high skill floor but very low skill ceiling; it's extremely shallow once you learn the basics. There is only one of like four tactics that you will use for every given enemy in the game, and they all require very low execution skill, so combat becomes very formulaic. And since every combat encounter is such a segmented 1v1 with little consideration for other enemies or the environment, you will never have to deviate from those tactics and will rarely ever face unique and dynamic situations. Not to mention bosses are pushovers with very limited and predictable movesets, and the magic system encourages you to use fairy magic to skip and completely bypass huge portions of levels. It also has basically no replay value as the combat is so shallow and one-dimensional with no other difficulty modes, builds, playstyles, or Second Quest
>>12525119The best combat system in the serie by far
>>12526906
>>12526907It's worse than both its predecessor and sequel though?
>>12525119I just beat the game... Beat the game... Yes I did...
>>12526947>It's worse because... because I keep saying so okay???
>>12526237Tell me why they're a cunt because that sounds based
Garbage game. Worst in the series. Literally can't stop coming back to it.
There are legitimate problems with Zelda 2, like some really obtuse things you need to know to progress or having to collect every magic upgrade just to finish the game, but its detractors only shitpost with dumbest points instead.
>>12528194>you need to know to progressmaybe 1 cryptic temple but that's it>having to collect every magic upgrade just to finish the gametechnically you can miss out on the life magic if you didn't get the mirror but either way, what's the problem? Oh no I have to experience the game!>but it's detractors only shitpost with dumbest points insteadlike you're doing right now?
>>12528264I'm talking about the magic containers.
>>12528278they're not to hard to find so I don't think it's that bad, most of them are right around or near areas you'll be going to anyway. You can get the first one as soon as the game even starts.
>>12528280There's no reason why they should be mandatory to beat the game, you should feel compelled to find them to help you out.
>>12528314Like most NES games it was to pad out the runtime, Zelda 2 by comparison to the original game is a lot shorter and more straightforward so this was likely just a way to keep the player engaged and not finish the game to quickly, if you know what you're doing this game is like 2 hours long max.
