Now look here, the difference between those two games is like comparing a bottle of vintage Cristal to a lukewarm light ale. In the original, that Neptune shark was a pathetic, blocky thing, about as intimidating as a piece of damp cod from a Peckham market stall. But the Remake? Now that is pure sophistication. The tension in that Aqua Ring is thick enough to choke a horse, and the shark itself is a towering beast that actually commands a bit of respect. Scrambling to electrify the water along with the glass barrier puzzle is tense as fuck, leaving that old version looking like a right load of old rushed rubbish. It’s class, pure and simple.
