The Saturn was mired by a slew of nonsensical decisions. How did Sega launch the Saturn without Sonic 4? Sega prided itself on building the "perfect" 2D console, but forgot to commission the one game that would've actually shown off the console's capabilities? Instead, Saturn owners got Sonic R, 3D Blast with a worse soundtrack, and a gimped Virtua Fighter port. What a joke. I kind of wish Sega stuck to their 2D guns and kept supporting the 32x+CD combo in lieu of the Saturn. I can say that in hindsight, because every 3D game from the 5th gen ended up being clunky, 20-FPS horseshit. I understand that without the awkward first steps of the 5th gen, we never would've reached the highs of the 6th gen, but at least Sega wouldn't have shafted its loyal customer base that bought into the Genesis/CD/32X eco-system so quickly. Plus, developers would get to keep working with hardware they were familiar with instead of being thrown into the deep end of the Saturn development process, trying to wrangle with both CPUs.
