You picking up the collection later this year? includes every version of all the games, and a brand new game. Also you can play the Sega Genesis version for free right now on https://www.eccothedolphin.com/en/ Between this and Yoshi, we are seeing a resurgence of cinematic laid back platformers.
>>12527298>In "Ecco the Dolphin: Complete," a feature called "Time Dial" will be implemented. This will allow players to instantly switch the game's visuals and sound to different eras. It will be possible to seamlessly move between four eras—8-bit (Master System), 16-bit (Mega Drive), 32-bit (PC), and 64-bit (the modern version of this game)—without leaving the stage.I guess it not a bunch of lazy rom dumps then. But how is that even going to work when the Master System versions are either missing levels or have completely different layouts?
>>12527325I think they are obviously adding onto the games, I think they must have reimagined all the entries as part of a single whole game.
>>12527298Cool music player on that site..
>>12527325if they made new hd graphics for both games, remaking genesis with master system graphics should be nothing
>>12527325checking the playlist and they have music for GEN,GG,SCD and the remaster. But not the SMS versions (although they have the same fucking music from GG)but also have Ecco JR music Okay now i'm confuse
a lot of potential here if they streamline just enough but don't go too far in making it completely toothless. get rid of the extreme difficulty spikes that clash with the pace of the game, tone down the robotic jpeg attack respawning enemies, keep the panic and dread of going into a deep underwater labyrinth
>>12527298I've been waiting 30 years for this so this is my #1 most looked forward to game. I can't believe it's actually literally happening.
>>12527336I'm enjoying the remixes but it doesn't say what they're even from.Anyone find a way to download them? I don't want to get too attached if they're going to be gone in a few years or whatever.
>>12527802>but it doesn't say what they're even from.???
>>12528087I meant are they gonna be in the upcoming collection, already released on some CDs somewhere or are they just ripped from random channels on youtube?
>>12527736Other than The Machine, what extreme difficulty spikes did you encounter?
>>12528790>Open Ocean and its never-ending shark swarms chasing you>Hard Water, swimming through the fast-moving ice blocks to reach the exit without getting crushed>Dark Water, defeating the Asterite before you drown, and you can't stop moving or you'll get blasted
>>12528920Open Ocean is one of the easiest levels in the game. Just keep swimming, it's like 2 minutes.Hard Water makes you pay attention at least but shouldn't be difficult if you aren't lazy.Asterite fight I do agree with though.
>>12529018>Open Ocean is one of the easiest levels in the game. Just keep swimming, it's like 2 minutes. And those sharks are at least as fast as you, if not faster. You've got to be alternating between staying low and high constantly or they'll zero in on you and turn you to chum.
>>12527332I think what's going to happen is that there will be "reimagined" versions of Ecco 1 and 2 that essentially mash up all the different versions into a single consistent game with multiple visual/audio settings, but the original games in all their various console releases will also be included on the side for the purists.
>>12527325>But how is that even going to work when the Master System versions are either missing levels or have completely different layouts? It's only changing how the game looks, not how it plays. Like in the Halo remaster you could switch between original and fugly remaster graphics with a button press.
>>12527336>Cool music player on that site..This one is better: https://www.dannyelfman.com/(click on each eyeball)
>>12527325Wait, no Sega CD version??
I logged in with a temp email and it gives you an option to opt in as an alpha tester.idk what that means exactly. Sounds like a big commitment for a simple toggle switch.
>>12529474I don't think the Sega CD looks any different from the Genesis version. It just has the CD audio and a few FMVs but I'm pretty sure the graphics were 100% unchanged.
>>12529758doesnt it have a few additional passwords?
