How was one man able to create such a deep and immersive gameplay loop out of such a simple concept and write the entire thing himself in low level x86 assembly in 1994? Chris Sawyer legitimately has to be one of the highest IQ people in the world.

>>12527884If we’re only comparing the base games, Locomotion is a lot better than TTD. Against OpenTTD, though, it’s a different story. Hopefully the OpenLoco project will eventually close at least some of the gap with OpenTTD, because I find Locomotion’s core gameplay more enjoyable.
>>12528630>If we’re only comparing the base games, Locomotion is a lot better than TTDNo it isn't. It has none of the charm of Transport Tycoon and it just adds a bunch of unnecessary complexity to an already perfect gameplay loop. The music and art style is also extremely bland. TTDX has some of the best art design of any isometric tile based game. And OpenTTD sucks compared to the original too. It adds too much autism and complexity. I'm convinced I must be one of the only non-autistic people in the world to enjoy Transport Tycoon because TTDX is one of my favorite games of all time but most of the shit people do with OpenTTD has zero appeal to me. I don't want to build a realistic rail network with 15 rail lines running next to each other, I want a visually condensed and simplified gameplay loop that fits into the scale of the game.
